Hello amazing Flickr People !!
Today is a red day at Color My World Daily and at Macro Mondays we celebrate sound. Which is very cool since I live with Nu-trix the Synth Guy (www.youtube.com/c/NuTrixTheSynthGuy/about) and he is all about sound…
You have no idea how many pictures and concepts I took for this theme. Nu-trix was very helpful (at the beginning at least lol). Unfortunately, there was always something which I didn’t like about all the pictures we took (yes I can be very, very peaky)…. Eventually Nu-Trix the Synth Guy was done with me and he didn’t want to be involved anymore in this theme and all that crazy process of taking pictures (which may be very, very time consuming…). And he just went swimming in our pool... Well he was on vacation last week so we will not judge him for choosing the pool over my photoshoot…I still love him !
But then it hit me: why not earbuds ? They are human made and used for sound. Also, very stylish and super easy to work with !! Earbuds are our friends !
So I hope you like this picture. Sometimes the simplest idea works so much better !

For "Odd", I immediately had the idea of combining Ohropax® earplugs and my new Sennheiser earbuds. The idea probably came to my mind so easily because my old, trusted, super comfy custom-made earbuds stopped working properly just recently when the right earpiece went "deaf" all of a sudden. I had them sent to the manufacturer, and even though they don't make those earphones anymore (only hearing aids, their original field of business), I still hope that they can fix it. The irony here is that I bought these earphones at the audiologist (you couldn't buy them anywhere else) years ago, because to make the earpieces, the audiologist had to make a silicone earmold, secured with a cotton thread so you could safely remove the silicone once it had hardened. So I sat there, waiting with my ears totally muffled by the silicone, and rummaging about the pretty likely next step following the purchase of in-ear headphones: hearing aids if I turn up the volume too loudly...
The width of the little scene is 5 cm/1,9 inches, so the width of the frame, negative space included, is about 5,5 cm/2,1 inches. The final image is an in-camera focus stacking made of 15 images. And yes, I have bought these colourful Ohropax® earplugs just for the theme, because I thought the standard yellow or orange earplugs would look a little boring for my "Sister Disco" setup ;) The earplugs come in four colours, blue, green, yellow, and orange, and all have a nice marbling pattern. I decided to use only three of the earplugs so the scene wouldn't get too big and there would also be some negative space to let the image "breathe". Processed in DXO, Color Efex Pro, and Photoshop.

Crazy Tuesday theme: Minimalism
I really liked the colour combo here. :)
I use these ear buds almost on a daily basis when I go out for my walks with the dog. I know they're "old school" with the cord compared to the fancy cordless ones you can charge. My kids have those kind and are always misplacing them - the case, not the earbuds themselves...but that is my fear (like losing one in the snow!) so I don't buy them. Besides they're expensive and I'm cheap.

With the weather improving lately, taking a walk around sunset provides time to enjoy Nature. Long steep hills, country roads, and trees bare of leaves provide numerous opportunities to capture tree silhouettes against the sunset background. Rewarding oneself with Nature, a pair of earbuds and suitable music for your head and your heart is always a good habit. Being able to enjoy walking with a device suitable to capture memories is important. I’d love to “Keep The Sunset” for myself but sharing on Flickr is cool too.

I was always surprised by the vast number of people wearing headphones or earbuds in the bustle of the city. I find it infinitely more important to be able to hear the world around me unabated. Enjoy!

The Hibiscus:
The Hibiscus is a deciduous plant that produces abundant showy blooms in the summer and fall. The five-petal, paper-like flowers come in an array of colors that reach 3" in diameter. La musique tissait ce fil invisible entre eux, léger mais bien réel.
Peut-être qu’il ne se passerait rien.
Ou peut-être que tout avait déjà commencé.
No words were needed.
Just one earbud, a sunset, and Paris as their witness.
Music wove that invisible thread between them ,light, yet undeniable.
Maybe nothing would happen.
Or maybe everything had already begun.

Akosua was number 49 in my 100 Strangers Project and keeping her earbuds in was a conscious choice as I wanted to photograph someone enjoying music on the street. This was captured in a previously posted portrait of Akosua with her eyes closed and head tilted back 'Lost in Music'.

Ollie loves any and all games that involve strings or string-like stuff.
A plain string will do, but it's even more fun if there's something to chase, pounce on, grab and maybe even bite or chew at the other end.
Store-bought rabbit-fur mice and bunches of feathers are nice enough, but they don't come close to appealing to Ollie the way a simple earbud does. He'll play tetherball with it, deftly capture it with just one paw, then get down the business of chewing lightly on that tempting plastic.
When we play together, I make sure Ollie's control of the earbud is only momentary.
This morning, though, in a rare fit of inattention, I left the earbuds on the bed. I returned to find Ollie on his side, wire in his paw and a gleam in his dilated pupils while he gazed upon the prize, the earbud.
As soon as Ollie saw me, he straightened up and looked off into the distance as if nothing out of the ordinary were happening. Foolishly, he forgot to cover the earbud with his velvety paw.
she looks at you. the gaze is direct, calm, an open question. the light is soft, it holds no secrets. but there is a secret, a small, white comma in her ear. she is here, in this moment with you, but she is also somewhere else, listening to a silent soundtrack that you cannot hear. it is the portrait of a modern soul: present and absent, all at once.

Headphones and earbuds are now inescapable accoutrements in street photography. Almost as ubiquitous as a mobile phone in hand. It makes me wonder what everyone is listening to. I prefer to hear what is going on around me.
