Sudan, January 2025: Children participate in an e-learning session at the Al Seniyaa internally displaced people’s gathering site in Port Sudan.
UNICEF, in collaboration with its implementing partner Sadagat, has recently established three E-Learning centers at the gathering site to provide children with an opportunity to learn. Using solar-powered tablets mounted on wooden stands, children can access simplified games, numbers, letters, English, Arabic languages, and other learning materials, with support from facilitators.
Established earlier this year, Al Seniyaa is considered the largest IDP gathering site in Port Sudan, currently hosting around 3,356 IDPs (according to UNHCR gathering sites statistics on 27 November 2024) and 19 refugees (17 Nigerian and two Ethiopian), and including 620 children (310 boys and 310 girls). The majority of the IDPs are displaced and fled from Khartoum, Al Jazeera, Singa and other states due to conflict.
