It was still freezing during the February half term although most of the snow had gone. I went to Bristol Temple Meads trainspotting but didn’t stay long as it was too cold. I took this picture of the new Brush type 4 D1500 which was on the Western Region for evaluation and was passing through with the Swindon Dynometer Coach. As I was leaving to return to Bath Spa I saw GWR 2-8-0 4707 at the head of a train and wish I had stayed longer to see its rare daylight appearance. 18th February 1963
