"When you come into a room, you have to give your light a chance to shine. It can't shine through if you hold on to baggage. If you get angry, you will grow old and bitter and get sick. I'm 80 years old, and I'm not sick."
That advice applies to everyone, but she is particularly anxious for African Americans to hear it.
"We are suffering from black rage and it is making us sick. We have to do something about it ourselves. Since New Orleans, we see the government is not going to help us. And it's not even a racial issue. The same thing is happening in Florida. The government is not functioning."
From a book review of the book: "Jerri, A Black Woman's Life in the Media." in the Oakland Tribune.
Yes she is the mother of Ted Lange Star of the "Love Boat" Series. She is also a media personality in her own right. She is dynamic witty and thoroughly kinetic always bringing a buoyancy to her work. She can set people at ease from stevedores to statesman and what is more she can have them talking to each other.
Full disclosure I have known Jerri since 1975 her other son Michael and my brother are close friends. Very seldom can you say you know a pioneer, I am happy to say I do please read the review above.

in order to avoid wearing out the SON's connectors, I added some pins and sockets in series with the dynamo wires. These are used for routine disconnections that are required to remove the wheel.
The website listed here doesn't exist (I checked). It seems that Brown University is planning on refitting this former power plant.
Taken during my second "walkabout" of the day in Providence, R.I., while my wife and children were at the Providence Children's Museum. This one was entirely on the east side of Providence River.
An exhibition at the Grand Palais in Paris. I am normally not a big fan of modern art but this exhibit was very interesting and even fascinating.

Legend and Patent Statement
"In 1886 this DC Dynamo was installed in Edison Station #1, here in Boston. There were several (3 or 4) of these dynamos in the station, each feeding a separate (and independent) distribution line. The operating voltage was about 120. The power rating was '800 lights', perhaps 50 KW."

Profile of Power
This 19th Century dynamo has sat in the Student Center at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) since before I started going to the Flea Market – at least 25 years. The latest Patent date is 1882, and the dynamo was one of several installed in Boston in 1886. This is a primitive generator from the early years of electric light. The brushes and commutator mark it as a dynamo, a direct current generator. This is the device seen in the old photo in Analog Digital Digital.
