Canada Goose CANG* (Branta canadensis)
(Local VI mixed sub species )
front goose was holding her neck down as per a female with young looking to avoid detection
Portage Inlet
Greater Victoria BC
DSCN9653
my best surmisings from observations here
are as follows:
Middle gosling is much smaller and would seem to be from a different batch
Possibilities--
1. Egg dumping -- another female goose could have deposited an late egg in the pairs nest ... but typically such eggs don't hatch because the rest of family leaves nest prior to it hatching
2. "Creche Formation -- not that unusual for broods to become intermingled ,with multiple pairs cooperatively watching over.
3. what was unusual in this case was there was a single [front](female ? by size and habits) loitering ...which went into alarm as i approached
My read was that most likely the smallest gosling was hers... and that she had been dominated (by other female) from proximity of goslings
But that begs more questions...where is her mate.?..do the females share the male..?.... and the ranking female took over care of offspring...why such small clutch size??

The Royal Danish Air Force attended RIAT 2025 with their F-16 solo display for the final time. The type is soon to be retired from Danish Air Force service, being replaced with the F-35A. This display also likely marked the final 'original' F-16A display at RIAT, with all remaining display teams using more modern F-16C jets.

General Dynamics F-16AM J-201 of the Royal Netherlands Air Force at Luchtmachtdagen 2016 held at Leeuwarden.
Manufacturer: General Dynamics (Now Lockheed Martin)
Operator: USAD 412th Test Wing , Edwards AF Base
Type: X-62 VISTA ("Variable Stability In-flight Simulator Test Aircraft"). Originally designated NF-16D and X-62 as part of an upgrade to Skyborg, with SAC (System for Autonomous Control of simulation).
Event/ Location: Aerospace Valley Airshow/ Edwards AF Base
Comments: X-62 VISTA is an experimental aircraft, derived from the F-16 Fighting Falcon, which was modified as a joint venture between General Dynamics and Calspan for use by the United States Air Force (USAF). X-62A remains on the curriculum of the Air Force Test Pilot School as a practice aircraft for test pilots.

This is why I shoot raw, shoot Nikon, and prefer the D750 and D810 over any other bodies.
This concertgoer was in the front row for Rihanna the other night, and I've never seen anyone so passionate. With only 30 seconds to shoot both the artist AND get a fan shot, I quickly turned around and snapped a frame of this guy and immediately had to turn back to shooting Rihanna. There was no time to change settings. Hell, there was barely time enough to cover the act I was there for!
Seriously, though. Those clean shadows and tamed highlights even when pushed +4.33 stops in post are just magic. People shouldn't pretend that accidents don't happen, or that we should "just be better photographers", or that we always have the time to prevent issues. There is a reason we use the tools we use. I didn't have a choice in my conditions, and I had to create the image.

Just found this image while going through my snow monkey shots for a second time.
This little guy seems fascinated by the water dripping off his fingers.
Check out the tiny monkey fingernails :)

The idea for this composition started off as a six shot bird panorama... In my first stitch attempt I started to laugh out loud at the stitched output and decided to do it by hand. The stitching software does work, but it does not know what to do with the flight dynamics of the Osprey. The software stitcher expects no motion and produces some strange blending patterns and placements!

This is a double-purpose photo.
1 - It lets me share the details of the pretty, brook-fed public watering trough, up the street from us, where the woods and pastures start.
2 - It poses a fluid dynamics question for any science and engineering types viewing this photo: Why does the little stream coming out of the pipe turn into a series of discrete drips on its way down to the trough? Please answer via a comment.

Who knew Peterson AFB had a huge museum of aircraft static displays? I sure didn't until my recent visit. I had to visit twice to wander around all the aircraft and check out some of my service's heritage. I'd like to think that makes me the somewhat dynamic portion of the title.

Designed to take three distinct type of missiles: bombs, torpedoes and light swarmer missiles. In Freespace world this would correspond for example to Cyclops, Trebuchets and Tornados.
