san francisco rainbow ~ in a rare stormy, foggy, cloudy summer day overlooking the city through the golden gate bridge, i witnessed a rainbow arched over the city. i was half expecting lightning as i was being drizzled on! and with what i was seeing up this way, i wouldn't have been one bit surprised if that would have actually happened.=)
this scene is quite rare, even for me to see it like this...
if you enjoy this san francisco rainbow piece, please take a look at a fiery sky ver from the same location~
"Colorful Macaw - Blurry Flight with ID" by Patti Deters. The Red-and-green Macaw (Ara chloropterus), also known as the green-winged macaw, is one of the largest and most spectacular parrot species in the world. These tropical avians are famous for their high intelligence, loud vocalizations, and the bare white patches of skin around their eyes, which actually blush when the bird gets excited or startled. In this unique artistic capture, the typical stillness of a nature portrait is traded for a dynamic explosion of movement. The flying macaw cuts through the air like a living paintbrush, its brilliant crimson head sharply defined while its colorful wings dissolve into a soft rush of turquoise, royal blue, and lime green plumage against a clean, minimalist high key background. It feels like the visual representation of wind, speed, and freedom - one can almost hear the rushing sound of air beneath its feathers. This image is also available without the identification words at the link below. A pair of GE's must be in full dynamic to hold back a long string of containers and autoracks as they head down Steelton Hill.
This is shot from inside a very small workshop situated within the vast halls of a disused industrial complex in Esch/Alzette/ Luxembourg called "Metzeschmelz".
The was by far the most extreme difference in light and shadow.

Early one morning I went walking around the streets of Boston and I found this firehouse. They were looking at me a little suspiciously while taking photos, but they let me be... I think they could tell that I thought firehouses and firemen were pretty cool. Firemen can see that kinda thing in people!

ESO’s La Silla Observatory is a very dynamic place. Once the night settles, astronomers start buzzing around, as can be seen by the traces of parking lights. The telescopes come to life, scanning the sky in search of their targets, while our Earth continues its journey through space and around the Sun — a movement we can deduce from the star trails visible in the sky. Such trails are obtained by using long exposure times. As the stars seem to move across the sky, they leave behind a trail of light, similarly to how the car lights are captured in this picture.

Me on the right, and my little bro on the left, as we appear in Halo 3. While these two are usually trying to kill eachother, they occasionally pose for photos.
Also, the Elite figure was pale orange when I got it. It's the only one of my figures that required a complete re-paint.

"Dynamic By Nature" - that is the slogan for the Town of Petawawa, Ontario, Canada - the place I call home. I don't often share "middle of the day" shots where the light is less flattering, but I wanted to share this photo as a tribute to the natural beauty of my community. I had a guest minister and his wife with us this weekend, and this morning I took them around and "showed them the sights". I was reminded how beautiful Petawawa really is, and how privileged I am to live here. I took this shot this morning, and so here is a fresh look at this beautiful Canadian community. The two young ladies on the paddleboards have it right - this is an outdoor playground...dynamic by nature.

Daily Photo - Under the Cherry Blossoms
I spent a while one evening in the older Gion district of Kyoto. Everything was in full bloom and there were all kinds of interesting people and things to see. It was a bit like a perfect little Japanese fairy-land. When the breeze came along, the blossoms would fall loose and flutter down like pink soft snow. I saw this couple sitting on a small stone wall beside a little stream under some cherry trees…
I did my best to blend into the background as I slyly slid inwards with my D3S. This was shot at ISO 3200, and you can see how little noise/grain there is in the exposure.
iPad Wallpapers on MacBreak Weekly
I heard via email and some tweets that Leo Laporte mentioned that my iPad Wallpapers on his show - that is cool! Thanks Leo! The only problem is that every time he does that, my servers crash for a little bit… We are working on a new server setup solution around here that should be a lot reliable (and help the page load faster!).
