The Saturn V Dynamic Test Stand was used in 1966-67 for ground vibration testing of the Saturn V launch vehicle and the Apollo spacecraft. Completion of this program was the final step prior to the launch of Apollo 11, the first manned lunar landing mission. In 1972-73 the stand was used for tests involving the Skylab Space Station; and in 1978-79 for ground vibration testing of the complete Space Shuttle vehicle.

Earlier in the week, I posted this same shot using the Polaroid 195 with the Fuji FP-3000b film. This photo is shot with the Olympus OMD E-M5 w/ 20mm Lumix f/1.7 lens.
This image is far superior from the standpoint of the dynamic range of the shades of black and white when compared to the Polaroid. Add to the fact that even using full manual controls on the Olympus took about 15 to 30 seconds to compose and shoot compared to about 10 minutes of spot meter readings, brain thinking (using Ansel Adams Zone system) , filter and camera adjustments, film development time.... modern technology is just a wonder.
However, the amount of human enjoyment of having to put all the effort to get the Polaroid to work is something technology can't offer.
So ends today's techie geek stuff rant.

U.S. Army Reserve International Combat Team shooter engages enemy targets during a Dynamic Pistol Lane as part of the 2015 Canadian Armed Forces Small Arms Concentration at the Connaught Range outside of Ottawa, Canada, Sept. 16. The international marksmanship competition lasted roughly two weeks, bringing in more than 250 total competitors from the British, Canadian and U.S. armed forces competing in more than 30 matches involving rifle, pistol and light machine gun events using various combat-like movements and scenarios. This statue is from the frieze of the Parthenon, now on display in the British Museum. I really liked the contrast of the dynamic animal and the static blocks, but all the same color.

A wave passes in front of the right wing of this Great Shearwater (Puffinus gravis) as it speeds past the Thelma Dale IV at the Wilmington Canyon. Shearwaters can use the wind energy generated by waves and the winds over the water for dynamic soaring, which enables them to range widely over the ocean in pursuit of prey while not having to spend a lot of energy on flying. As a result, they have a distinctive flight style that involves very little wing flapping and a lot of direction changes. Their dynamic soaring also means a windy day is better for finding them than a still one. Dynamic spreader spar components.
Completed bushing assembly with heat shrink and tie wraps installed.
7/21/13: A design improvement for additional strength is to apply three or four wraps of fiberglass cloth around the bushings and soak with fiberglass resin or epoxy glue prior to adding heat shrink tubing. Note that the tie wraps are not necessary if the fiberglass cloth is used.
