This pair of Norfolk Southern GP38-2's (5096 and 5266) just completed their work for the day and have returned to the Springfield, Illinois yard. This first unit 5096 had a longer hood, made for a neat pair. I just missed the afternoon mixed freight headed south and caught a glimpse of this pair instead.

As Daveybot points out, this ampitheatre is only ever used by kids in the few minutes between bus and the visit to Our Dynamic Earth... Aside from that it seems to serve no purpose other than to sit and watch the, umm, theatricality of tour buses and coaches turning... Makes for pretty photo-ops mind!
