I put my damp materials in a soda ash soak then scrunch and barely bind. After squirting with rainbow colors I bound more and immersed in a black dye vat.

Can't decide how I feel about this one. I'm generally not a fan of pastels, so this was kind of an experiment. As you can see... it got attacked by the blue dye too.

My first attempt at rainbow dyeing.

This was a quick trial tonight with some food dyes(very strong :() and a tall vase of water.

 

I need to work on the lighting. ( I trialled a much better method after this) and the timing of the dye drops, but it looks promising :)

After dyeing, I've been lately setting it in the microwave to heatset.

 

This is the yarn resting in a bowl, still hot to the touch.

 

Dye was neon pink and neon purple, though I used quite a bit so it should be deeper.

she wanted Korean temple colors as well. But in a worsted weight, single ply merino. I hate merino for dyeing as it felts if you look at it wrong when it's hot, but I think it'll survive.
