So I heard iPoly dye would have been a better option for dyeing doll parts ever since RIT changed its formula and I finally got around to testing this theory. I decided to just follow the instructions since I wanted to see the extremes of this first before I try messing with it.

I got the powder version and there was only “Brown” instead of RIT’s expansive range of tan and browns and stuff. I basically boiled a pot of water and dumped in the liquid packet and the brown powder and let it get to a rolling boil, and then dumped in the parts and turned off the heat. I let the pieces soak for about two hours before taking them out and rinsing off under running water for a few minutes.

The parts I used was a vintage Midge head, a Korea Malibu Barbie, a 1974 Hair Fair Barbie, very yellowed Mod era straight arms and legs with a still pink Twist and Turn torso, Fashionista Nikki, Director Barbie head and Barbie Style Raquelle. The modern heads were just there so I could see how theyd work on modern dolls.

A few things to note. Holy crap, the colour is SO much more vibrant and works WAY more quickly than RIT dye has worked for both my Allan and Francie dye projects. To contrast and compare, this is two hours worth of soaking, while RIT dye took over 12 hours yet my Allan and Francie dolls are still relatively light toned.

Another thing to note is that iPoly actually dyes hair fibres, which RIT dyeing has NEVER done, so I was really surprised since every attempt at RIT dye often leaves blonde hair as is. If there was some way of protecting the vinyl, I would love try dyeing some blonde hair to be darker lol.

ALSO IPOLY DYE WORKS ON HARD PLASTICS. I’m sooooooooo very shocked that I was able to get that peachy light skintone as dark as it is cuz RIT dye has absolutely no effect on hard plastic.

If I were to do this again, I would dye the torso separately first then gently dip the other parts intermittently until they were the same tones.

I’ll report back in a week if these parts though lol.

Actor Lauren Zimmerman portrayed Moll Dyer during the Moll Dyer Day observation on February 26, 2022 in Leonardtown, Maryland. Dyer was a 17th-century woman set upon by an angry mob who believed her to be a witch. Chased from her home when the mob set it ablaze, she was later found frozen to death on a large stone that is now known as "Moll Dyer's Rock." The Moll Dyer Day and Weekend provided a nice balance between celebrating local ghost lore and recognizing Dyer as a real person who was unjustly subject to a violent death. The Town asked people posting pictures from Moll Dyer Day to add the hashtag #bekind, and compared Dyer's death to modern day bullying and intolerance. The weekend included lectures on 17th century indentured women and witch trials of that era, paranormal walks, a family scavenger hunt, a Moll Dyer themed cocktail contest, special meals and drinks around town, and this appearance by "Moll Dyer" that honored her life and legacy. The ceremony was held at the relocated Moll Dyer's Rock at the Tudor Hall Mansion, home of the St. Mary's County Historical Society.

In the fourth photograph in this series, it is the faultlines in the huge slabs of rock beneath the water that subtly shape the image, beneath the gently heaving surface - that, and the smoky haze drifting along the skyline.

For Sliders Sunday! As I was driving west on I-70 in Western Kansas toward Colorado, I spotted this awesome sky. I immediately thought of a tie-dye shirt. So it seemed like a perfect image for a slide. I think it would make a great tie-dye t-shirt. What do you think?

Once a favourite with dyers who extracted a yellow/brown pigment to dye cloth and wool. It is inedible having a very sour taste It is velvety to the touch

I am making small samples to see how it will color the wool and the cotton..from bottom up...wool with alum, then the lightest brown is cotton and then the big piece is just wool without alum...

An unusual visitor to SW London this morning. Colas Class 70/8 No.70817 is seen passing through Dyers Lane, Barnes on the 28th of January 2020, working the 21:25 6M66 loaded cement tanks from Oxwellmains Lafarge to West Thurrock.

This flow normally travels down the MML to West Hampstead, and then onto the Goblin line via Carlton Road Junction. But due to a major derailment last week on the Goblin line near to Walthamstow Queens Road, which caused substantial damage to the track, this flow was diverted via SW London, Kensington Olympia, Willesden Junction & then due East via the North London Line.

I didn't want another 'selective colouring' edit and so I added a sepia/dye effect. Though I retained just a hint of the colour in the bubble. I've been playing around with 'film effects' so I added the processed bored to try and complement the vertical flow of the image. I quite like it, it seems quite original if nothing else.

This plant has been with us for a long time in Europe. Originally comes from the Caucasus and Western Asia. But has been also native in some parts of Eastern Europe as well. It had been used since ancient times a source of blue dye. The chemical that can be used as a dye is actually indigo, only it is a more diluted version that of the "true indigo" (Indigofera tinctoria) from India. After the Indian indigo was introduced to Europe, the use of this plant and the craftsmanship connected to fabric dying with this plant has gradually died out.

So called "blue painting" has been used for centuries to dye fabric with. In Germany it was called "Porzellandruck" ("Kékfestés" in Hungarian).

This polypore grows on rotting roots and logs and appears to come out of the ground. The common name “Dyer’s polypore” is based on the use of this polypore to dye fabric.
