Zinnia x hybrida
Zinnia x hybrida cultivars are a cross between Zinnia elegans and Zinnia angustifolia. They have the short, compact size and profuse flowering of the former and the disease resistance of the latter. Flowers average between 2 and 3 inches in diameter.
Zinnia x hybrida is considered a dwarf group -- they have been bred to be much shorter and bushier than the species plants.

An old photo from back when I was uninspired and away from Flickr, but still felt the need to take pictures of things sometimes. Most of the photos I have from that period were uploaded to iNaturalist and I do not think they are interesting enough to upload here, but there are some exceptions like this one.

Captured as the snow was ending and what had accumulated through the night on the little Blue Spruce tree.
This was prepared as a possibility for last week's challenge in the 'Macro Monday' group but I decided that there had been just a bit too much post-processing - not that there had really been so much.
So posted here for 'Sliders Sunday'. The small bottle is only 17mm high and is dwarfed by the 75 mm high flask.
I am still experimenting with the lens that I 'hacked out' of an old film camera and have glued onto a camera body cap.. It produces rather odd soft photos that certainly have a character of their own.

The main platform of the floating oil rig Northern Producer (see previous upload) towers close to 40 metres above the kayak - so fortunate to have a husband to provide scale! As I was so close to the structure, this had to be done as a 2-shot vertical pano, but this had to be done very quickly from my non-stationary kayak.
The smallest carnivore in East Africa the Dwarf Mongoose lives in termite mounds which these two are sat on top of in the early morning light.

Many thanks to everyone that views and comments on my images - very much appreciated.

Last one from The Vile, Rhossili. I'd hoped to have returned because I need a portfolio of these ( more on that another time) but tomorrow we move on to pastures green.
Rare albino Dwarf Mongoose, Taita Hills - Kenya
The dwarf mongoose is Africa's smallest mammalian predator with a body length of 16–23 cm and a weight of 213–341 g.

Tropaeolum minus (Dwarf nasturtium) identified by label at the the Bergianska trädgården (the Bergian Garden), a botanical garden located on the outskirts of Stockholm.
Tropaeolum minus, the dwarf nasturtium is a species of perennial plant in the Tropaeolaceae family. It is endemic to mountainous regions of Ecuador and Peru.
Tropaeolum minus was the first Nastutium to appear in European gardens. It was already widespread in the 16th century, and hence it must have been among the first american plants to be cultivated widely in European gardens.
It is a smaller species tha T. majus L., the well known garden nasturtium, and has lost popularity since the latter was introduced.
I personally like to place buildings in context of their surroundings, and when you're in mountainous terrain they always look so tiny and frail. The compressed perspective that a 70-200mm can give adds to the drama.....
One from my last trip up to the lakes before Christmas, it had been snowing on and off so I wanted a go at this image with the snow coming down the slopes of the Mountains to the rear, initially I was a bit miffed as there wssn't as much snow I would have liked, but standing theere looking at the fact thewre was less also allows the lonely fishing hut to stand out far more against the background with the colours on the mountainside being able to come through as well.
The lonely little fishing hut is completely dwarfed by it's surroundings, it must be a great place to get away from it all, I'm no fisherman but if I was I'd be heading here.
