When I was a child back in the 1980's Dacia had a brief and unsuccessful period of offering their products on the U.K. market. The Renault 12 based Denem was a monumental flop and not something I can ever recall EVER seeing on the roads though its commercial derivative the Shifter found a little more success even if they all disappeared rather quickly due to poor build quality and rampant rust. The only Dacia I only ever remember seeing in meaningful quantities was the ARO based Duster which found a small and ready market here selling on its bargain basement price and utilitarian nature. I never once imagined Dacia would ever grace these shores again but thanks to Renault ownership they have a delightful range of appealing budget vehicles which have done remarkably well in these cost conscious times including the wonderfully chunky new Duster. Majorette have been making their own version for the last few years with the vast majority being in this strangely appealing metallic brown colour which probably wouldn't look so great on the real vehicle but just works in miniature form. Exceptionally well cast for a pocket money diecast it has a nice springy suspension, opening hatch and lots of lovely detailing. Bought from Poundworld back in August 2016. Mint and boxed.
The novelty of finally being able to buy new Majorette models again hasn't quite worn off yet hence I had to buy another Dacia Duster from my latest visit to Toyland. Their various changes of ownership over the years hasn't diminished their appeal or quality. Mint and boxed.
Like the Lada XRay of a couple of days ago, the Dacia Duster is a modern Crossover vehicle (CUV) from the ever-expanding Renault-Nissan group.
Whereas Lada (via parent AutoVAZ) has only recently come into the Renault-Nissan fold, after being associated with GM-Daewoo, Dacia has a much more extensive history tied to Renault going back nearly 50 years to an agreement to licence-build the Renault R12 in Romania from 1969.
The Duster II, shown here is a 2018 update to the original Duster CUV model launched in 2009. The Duster II uses the same Dacia B0 platform, shared with some other Dacia models, and which is a modified, long wheelbase version of the Renault-Nissan B-Platform, doing service under many B/C-segment vehicles including the Nissan Juke and Versa, Renault Clio and Captur, as well as the Lada XRay, The platform is saleable in both length and width, allowing it cover a significant cross section of the small-car market. The platform (along with the Duster) is built in many regions including Romania, Russia, India, Columbia, Brazil and Indonesia.
Norev Dacia Duster in appropriate French Gendarmerie livery. Think Majorette but without the working suspension and opening features but a whole lot more factory accurate detailing instead! Part of a four vehicle set found recently in an E.Leclerc. Mint and boxed.
Plymouth Duster 1970-1976.
The Gov.uk Vehicle Enquiry check states it's powered by a 5.9-litre (360 cu in) V8, but the decals on the side presumably claim it's a 340 cu in (5.4-litre) car.

Hello to the folks coming here from putthison.com/post/365446401/hatsdouchesanddorks to see the "megadork". I may be a "dork", but I can bet pretty good odds that I had a better day the day that picture was taken than you've had in months or years.
