With the significant rainfall in western NC this winter, rivers and streams are running quite a bit above normal, enabling pleasant surprises like this reflective pool beneath the waterfall. Little River drops more than 1000 feet in a couple miles over a series of waterfalls carved from the granite domes of this upland valley. Many beautiful waterfalls are located in a reasonably compact area of western North Carolina near the city of Brevard. The upper and mid of Triple Falls shown above are located on the Little River in the DuPont State Forest. The third and larger lower falls is just out of frame in this composition. Rt's 215 and 276 north and west of Brevard offer more opportunities for waterfalls and outstanding drives in a two seat roadster!!!!!!!!!!!!!
