I've said it many times, it's better to be lucky than good. Day four was a perfect example of that.
After seeing a LAUDEN Sunday night I had seen no sign of the road trains, and with the locals in play I wasn't too concerned. I hadn't planned to stay at Kane but I found the setting perfect for photography and a good nights sleep. I woke up and watched the sun rise over the Bighorn Mountains pondering a plan to break camp and make my way up to Frannie looking for the Cody local. Nothing had passed in the night.
Shortly after sunrise I scrambled when a horn sounded to the south. Despite being ready, I watched as the train eased to a stop and doused the headlight. Closer inspection revealed a DENLAU tucked away in the siding. Almost 36 hours with no road trains and now they were meeting in morning light behind my campsite. The railfan gods were smiling upon me and not for the first time this trip.
Greed nearly got the better of me as I considered heading west to Lovell to intercept the opposition. The promise of extra sets of a train were weighed against my unfamiliarity with the area along with the one-lane road construction I had waited in the evening before. Framing up the shot at Kane quickly put to rest any hair-brained notions I had about attempting an intercept. I wasn't likely to do better than this but I would be likely to be out of position when they reached this curve.
It wasn't a long wait until LAUDEN was blowing for the nearby highway. A pair of GEs curve into Kane against the backdrop of the Pryor Mountains. I was pleased with the shot and oddly relieved that the power wasn't something really special. Had the power been something incredible I would have been really torn between my plan (go north) and instead going all the way back to the Wind River Canyon. The temptation was strong but a lot of troubling variables; how long would it take to reach Greybull, how much work would they do there, would there be another crew ready without delay, how long would it take to reach Thermopolis? In my estimation everything would have to fall into place to put this train in canyon early enough in the day. A long way of saying this would be a one and done for the LAUDEN. Besides, I had a DENLAU in hand going right way if not optimal for the morning light. August 29, 2023.
i suffocate in the dumbness of these events, i've been promised rains from south, but where are they.. i'm dry like a straw, i don't want anything. my roots crack. I need you to dissolve me.

I feel like the dummy on the left is saying "now come on girls, look smart, stop fooling around..."!!
He's so tiny, I love him.
Woke up to find out my mom was home because where she work the power went out so oops, they all had to go home. They said anyone can come back whenever the power works again but I can tell you right now, that's not gonna happen.
Because I'm getting shopkicks again, we walked around the mall and walmart! Then went to the hospital, met up with my grandma & cousin. Had lunch then went to the mall (again) this time so my grandma can switch the sweater I got her and she got me one :D Came home painted my nails, talked and watched videos!
Around 8 went to the mall (AGAIN) with the best friend and just walked around and talked. Before leaving and driving downtown before ending up at Wendy's to get ice cream. Where I spilled some of mine in her car. I was laughing so hard. Holy shit was it funny.

For the last few days I've been trying to trap an obnoxious groundhog that's invaded our back yard and lives under our porch. TWICE I had to release this rabbit yesterday. It is clueless in Sheboygan!

I do my best to never pray for dumb things. Sometimes I pray for things like my mom or my dad being happier people, or for people close to me to find the strength within themselves to rise above difficult circumstances. Sometimes I slip up and pray for traffic to let up so that I can get to work on time, but if I catch myself I try to do some sort of good deed in exchange for praying for something stupid.
Tonight I prayed for some direction toward being a better person. I got a response, which was more or less "do more good." I'm pretty sure I know what that means, so I'm gonna do more good.
Here's another piece from my solo show. I hope you're all being nice to other people, not driving like jerks, and not being depressingly selfish during this Christmas season!

The biography of this french painter is curiously dumb. Most references to Mestrallet indicate only a date of birth: 1886 ... Any additional information would be welcome.
This table shows a beautifully crafted stone bridge , the" Pont Marie", completed in 1635 under Louis XIII.
At this time, the banks of the Seine were not yet abandoned to cars. Fishermen could moor their boats and we see in the foreground a pontoon boat that could serve as a bathhouse.
The signature, in black paint, is located at the bottom right.
