This is my rather feeble attempt to duplicate the famous image taken by Ansel Adams called, "Moon Over the Half Dome" at Yosemite HERE

Built by the Civilian Conservation Corps near the end of the Great Depression, this trail shelter is located close to the Sol Duc Falls in the Olympic Mountains. Sol Duc Valley is in the Olympic National Park.

Hibou moyen-duc , Long-eared Owl

Created for Down Under Challenge #936, using Gillian Everett's challenge image (see it below).

After I finished this thing, I was hesitant to post it because it looks sort of ominous, like planet earth is about to be crushed by a bunch of comets, or whatever; and it's certainly not a very Christmassy image. But, I couldn't think of anything else to do with Gill's image, so I just let it stand.

Longueur : 35 – 40 cm

Nom scientifique : Asio otus

Poids : 250 g

- The Great Horned Owl is the largest nocturnal bird of prey. The upper parts of the body are black-brown and buff, with a cloud of spots on the forehead and crown, stripes on the nape, sides and back of the neck.

Usually inhabits near rocky cliffs and escarpments, in mountain areas, but sometimes also in lower afforestations with steep slopes and steppe terrain.

I believe Sol Duc Falls have been captured from every possible angle. So I just picked one that fewer people had taken.

This is the Sol Duc River in Olympic National Park, Washington that leads to the Sol Duc Waterfalls. The walk to the waterfalls and the sound of flowing water is refreshing.
