An almond is a simple fruit because it was formed from a single ovary. It is considered fleshy because at least some of the pericarp is soft at maturity. Specifically, it is a drupe because the endocarp is stony.
The stony endocarp of the almond is removed from the rest of the fruit and placed below it. The seed is inside the endocarp and not visible here.
The husk of the almond at the top of the image consists of the exocarp and mesocarp.
