I got the borders on all four sides and I knew. I KNEW. The aspect ratio was wrong and it was eating at me. It could pass for a twin quilt, but it was generous on width and skimpy on height. I bundled it up, got dinner, and while I was gone, I thought about Adam's admonishment: these are lifetime gifts. Do them right.
tragedy befell this quilt a few weeks ago, when i left my sewing bag on the greyhound bus to buffalo. in it were all of the pieces i'd stitched so far, plus a ton of pieces i'd cut. to top it off, the bag had been a birthday gift from a friend--it had hand-printed trees on it, and it was the perfect size for a small sewing project, and i loved it and was VERY unhappy to have lost it.
but i came home and cut out more pieces and decided to put them together in a more orderly way, resulting in what i think is a more coherent look, so i guess all was not lost.
Such perfect stitches!! And perfect binding!!! This is the beautiful doll quilt I received from Sonia at SewHappy45.
