Drum Castle consists of a plain late 13th Century keep of four storeys. To this has been added a Large L-shaped range of 1619, and the castle was extended again in the 19th Century.
There is a walled garden with old roses, and in the grounds is the old wood of Drum, an ancient oak Woodland.

The category winners have been announced.
The Glover Prize goes to Jennifer Riddle of Victoria for "Wanderings of the Past and Now". It features a scene from Port Davey in the remote south-west of Tasmania. I think you'll agree on its photogenic charms. A truly brilliant composition of line, shade, reflections and just enough colour. Like most of this year's entries (because interstate artists couldn't travel), it was based on a photograph.

One of the Highly Commended works was by Tasmanian artist Stephen Lees, "Walking George". This colouful, almost abstract, work is inspired by walking his dog through a local landscape.

Another bit of controversy was created by the Packers' choice of Western Australian artist Cynthia Orr's "Our House". One rule of the Glover Prize is that it must feature a Tasmanian landscape (where Glover himself painted). Some critics have argued the features in this painting more closely resemble that of her home town of Albany (WA).

A drum circle is an informal gathering of percussionists and dancers who meet in public for the purpose of playing drums and dancing. Often seen at parks and beaches. Percussionists usually gather in a circle and dancers are often seen in the centre of the circle. The participants make up the music as they go along, using their listening and playing skills to make musical connections and express themselves in any and all ways that feel right. Drum circles often attract both regulars and spontaneous participation and they can range in size from a handful of players to circles with thousands of participants. Defining values of a drum circle include equality, autonomy, inclusivity and freedom of expression.

This whole drawing is done exclusively with vectors (using Inkscape 0.46), and by hand entirely (no tracing involved; about 3000 objects and 250 hours of work).
This is the one place I most wanted to visit on our Southwest trip and the extra special part of it was that I got there on my birthday! It seemed a grueling hike in but much less so on the way out. Hauntingly beautiful and spiritual, this place will stay with me always.

Drum Castle is a castle near Drumoak in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. For centuries it was the seat of the chief of Clan Irvine. The place-name Drum is derived from Gaelic druim, 'ridge'. The site is located approximately 6+1⁄2 miles (10.5 kilometres) northeast of Banchory and 3 miles (5 kilometres) west of Peterculter. The property is now owned by the National Trust for Scotland and is open to the public.

With a small X-Acto cut to the bottom of the Maxim 08/15 receiver, the RPD drum will fit quite nicely. However, there is now no room for it to pitch up & down on a tripod attached to the mounting tab!
The Maxim MG 08/15 overmold will be available in limited quantities at World War Brick in Anaheim. I'll bring my X-Acto and make this mod for anyone that wants one - but you must supply the RPD drum (or get an RPD from the Brickmania store at the show).
