Lanark Road is a regular driver change-over spot and the 44 is the only bus service on this road out of town to the south-west of Edinburgh. 739 awaits her new driver and some of that paint is getting a further chance to dry as I take a few photos. I never realised how watching paint dry feels so good!

So why "The Mill Race"? Ian Craig, Lothian Buses managing director explains:

"Many water powered mills used to sit along the Water of Leith between Juniper Green and Currie, and they offered livelihoods to generations of mill workers. We thought it fitting to acknowledge this local heritage in the new name and image on the revamped 44 which is the main service running along Lanark Road."

The event was part of the Economic Opportunities Program’s Working in America series and the Latinos and Society Program’s Latino Economic Advancement series.

the boredom that is a Tuesday night was the inspiration for this shot. The photo of me on the license is two years old and it's just as well that you don't see the whole thing.

The swing path is the main contributor of the slice. But if you look closer, it’s caused by the tangential force applied to the ball producing the clockwise spin. If you have a slice that starts out going right, then the club face may also be open (instead of square) at impact. This creates a launch angle pointing right from the very beginning.

Changing your swing path to be more perpendicular to the target plane is one way to reduce slicing. But due to physical limitations this can sometimes be difficult for many players, especially seniors and beginners.
