It is true what they say about french drivers..well at least it was true for this weeks shuttle bus drivers.RATP supply most of the buses for the hotel shuttles into the park .We was staying at the Explorers hotel .The shuttle bus for the outward journey on both days was Mercedes Benz Citaro bendi 70929.CV-624-MW . It is seen here at the bus and train station for the park. Photo taken 24/08/15

The Sir Francis mine opened in the valley of Gunnerside Gill in 1864 to exploit deep seams of lead. Famously the first mine to use compressed air drills. It was abandoned in 1882 after failing to make decent returns. The remains of one of the air receivers can still be seen near the original entrance today.
