And then drove west to Abel Tasman National Park. This picture is from Queen Charlottes Drive, yet another steep and windy, but very scenic drive just north of Picton.
In approx 1992 the Elizabeth PBA Local # 4 executive board led by Detective Ismael Olivero with other members of the detective bureau and patrol division made a decision not only to protect the citizens of Elizabeth but to find ways to help them in times of need. After several meetings and discussions with local businesses willing to make donations the Turkey Drive was formulated. The Turkey Drive started that year. In addition to the donations PBA Local # 4 received, PBA Local # 4 purchased additional turkeys and canned goods to supplement the donations to include several churches who held Thanksgiving Day meals for the homeless and elderly. This has continued for the past 24 years with new officers helping every year and has continued to be run by present PBA Local # 4 executive boards.
Continue the progress.
Drive-In Restoration

I've been meaning to get a photo of this sign for a while, and finally decided to get it done today. The Lonsdale Twin Drive-In was a popular night spot for years, although I only remember seeing one movie there - The Graduate - back in my college days. When the Drive-In closed, the "Lonsdale Drive-In Restoration Project" was initiated and the 17-acre asphalt jungle was removed and converted to a wetlands marsh. The results have been amazing, and only this sign at the former south entrance to the complex remains. The parking area here services the Blackstone River Bikeway and also provides access to a mile-long boardwalk through a marsh. It's very popular with birders due to the wide variety of migratory birds that visit the wetlands.
Post processing started with a classic filter in Topaz B&W FX. I adjusted color sensitivity sliders, adaptive exposure, regions, contrast, and boost black. A sepia photo filter was added in PSE.
