Drifting Away
(Photo # 2 of this series)
ICM picture made in Belgium, in river Lesse. The sun was shining through the green summer leaves in the trees above, and left a green reflection in the streaming water.
The water is getting wilder.
Some kind of duck, John Day River, near Mitchell, Oregon, USA, taken August 30, 2020. Consensus on ring-necked duck.
UP GP40-2 1417 leads the Troy Grove local South near Shabbona, IL, busting some nice drifts at Duffy Road.
It feels like winter is over - we already have primrose and crocus in our garden blooming. I have still one picture from last winter when I was out during a weekend afternoon snow drift walk. There were not many people out except very few for a dog walk.
Today was a cold and very blustery day. Yet, I found this leaf drifting along on a calm spot on the river in our local park. We are supposed to get our first snow of the season tomorrow. I am glad I got this shot to add to my fall collection for this year.
back on my moody beach ... a song about detachment which I was privileged to hear live last week. I found the performance deeply moving. Eivor's soaring vocal range backed by syncopated keys ... enjoy with my blurred breaking waves

A look backwards as we drive out into the desert a little south of Giza. We encountered this a lot, where sand had overtaken the road. Sometimes it was a minor drift like this that we just had to go around. Other times the road disappeared beneath the sand completely and you just follow the tracks others have left.

Maybe I'm drifting, maybe I'm gone
Maybe I sold my soul for a song
Maybe I'm blind, maybe I see
You know just what I mean
Maybe I'm drifting, maybe I'm lost
Maybe I found every line I'd cross
Some of us we haven't had a dream
Drifting just like me

Hudson River ice is one of my favorite things about winter here in the Hudson Valley. It's constantly changing with the tides and makes every outing unique in finding compositions.
We have had a series of snowstorms here recently. Snowplows have cleared back roads like this one, making huge piles of snow along the fence line. Then came the wind, blowing drifts around the plowed snow. HFF
You're like a wave washing over me
Pulling me underneath
Sinking slowly
You're like a wave washing over me
I'll stay underneath
Drifting slowly
We've been having heavy rains for the last 3 days that are expected to continue onto Friday. So we may need a boat to go to work. :)
Have a great week my friends.

Commonly seen in rangeland areas of the western U.S. and Canada, drift fences have been used since early settler times to prevent cattle from drifting from their home range.
Taking the back routes away from, or over, the A13 London road. It's calm enough here but I noted a mile further on everybody eastbound had come to a halt. Just when I was heading past them. Smug? Who me...? 😇
