Every year my daughter sends me a beautiful Christmas arrangement for the dining room table. There are 4 different arrangements. I just love them!
The colouring and adornment of the idols in Kumartuli locality of Kolkata has commenced as Durga Puja is just over a week away.In this case the hair,the jewellery and the weapons in the arms of the Goddess are still to be put on.
Come the month of Ashwina (Sept-Oct) in the Bengali calender and the Goddess Durga arrives in Bengal.The soft fragrance of the Shiuli flower perfumes the air and the whole state resounds to the sound of Dhak as Bengalis celebrate Durga Pujo..Beautiful clay idols of Goddess Durga are placed in gorgeous pandals and worshipped, the festivities lasting for five days..The Goddess is depicted as slaying the evil demon Mahishashura symbolizing the victory of good over evil.On thelast day of Vijayadashami the idols are taken out in a procession and immersed in rivers and other water bodies.
Now Durga Pujo is celebrated by Bengalis all over the world.
In Kolkata the idols are traditionally made in the locality of Kumartuli (Kumar-one who works with clay)

ps i'm not recommending any of these cookery adventures. they suit my personal taste. photographing to encourage myself to eat more healthily .
the collection of things on my dressing table, are often played with by my three little girls and they had left it all just like this.
I was looking through a hard drive earlier this evening looking for some pictures from 2006. inevitably I saw I had a folder on the drive with pictures of me from the that year indulging in my transvestism.
I saw this picture and had a quick skip of the heart as I suddenly remembered just how much I loved dressing up as a woman the night I too this picture. It was rather a fabulous and fun filed evening as I do so enjoy female impersonation, albeit in a non theatrical manner. I'm simply doing it for my own enjoyment.
I recall at that time I was pushing it with my eyebrow plucking as I had gone from my thick bushy shapeless eyebrows to daring myself to have a thinner shaped more feminine brow. I've since changed my approach as I went a bit too far and it caused me some family upset. Although my family tolerate my cross-dressing they do not like it and would prefer I stopped. I think the eyebrows were something I had to try. I now prefer a neater tidier shape to the over plucked thin eyebrow look.
As I was using the self timer I had not got into a pose and realised the shutter was about to go of so I just adopted this pose, which is a bit of an odd one but hey...I was having fun. Despite being a man I really do love to become a woman. I adore wearing a dress, high heels, wig and make-up.

Not sure exactly what is going on in this scene; clearly some window dressing internally, however, what these three people have to do with what is going on inside the shop is anyone's guess. The Mannequin staring out (directly at me) adds a slight eeriness to the scene.
