I made a Christmas card this weekend with some cute elf patterned paper, which led to my daughter, Remi, deciding to make a drawing featuring the elf from the movie, "Elf". Of course, she had to add a cute narwhal to keep him company because everyone needs a buddy, right?

Holiday card drawing featuring me, my wife Marianne, Charlie the dog and Fluffy and Max the Cats. It's festive.
Riopelle and his companion, Joan Mitchell, spent the summer 1960 in Bridgehampton, Long Island, New York. It was apparently during this stay that he made the decision to integrate sculpture into hi practice. If the painting Helice – Cythere, hung nearby, brings the Mediterranean Sea to mind, these two drawings featured black-ink whirlpools on watercolour backgrounds – installed here might evoke the Atlantic Ocean. The lines and marks seem to advance and retreat like waves washing up on the American east coast.

This is an older drawing, featuring the flying snake from my collection of characters, better known as The Prefect Rejects. [Yes to Prefect.]
82/100 The cupboard feature should ideally relate to the cupboard detailed. This would enable you to indicate where it is located etc. otherwise it is just a random door hinge, albeit it well drawn in this 3d view.

Another Peter Gray and Sons mdl 1911 semaphore lamp
with applied tag NYNH&HRR.
Interesting to find different methods of assembly in these lamps,
while i have yet to venture into the modern of the PG mdl 1911
lamps types indicated by the large PG on the top cap.
The early production
lamps are found with different retaining rings for lenses and here is another.
Using the same "C" type retainer ring with most back light applications the iron ring has two flattened ends drilled and threaded on one end, which is strange as many draw bands hold fast around the portion holding a lens to keep them secure ,
A "C" ring works the opposite, its spring like tension forces outwardly to hold the lens in place, so why add a drawing feature to a band in this instance ..ive seen a few different PG bands but this is an oddity and one im sure not many of .
The RED RDL is a GENERAL SIGNALS INC MADE IN USA 5 3/8 DIA RDL 7111 in plastic .
Virtually rot and dent free it does seem someone had issues, unfamiliar with "C" bands, bending some very fragile portions which need fixing. The lamp has a thinner finger pull, less beefier bail ears, meager stem keeper but the pot keeper is intact.
This version is without a back light and the side door peep sight is in perfect shape.

The other morning I had a sunny chance to make a photo and drawing featuring a small floral arrangement with a blue, ocean-colored pottery vase, 2 orange nasturtiums with small spray of yellow statice. Drawing in my sketchbook of the table things, on white paper. The ColdwaterCreek colored pencils to the left, were part of a Christmas gift from Don, The vase near center a gift from Carma. I placed everything purposefully on the wood octagonal outdoor table, with the brick wall for background. Color, texture, line - what did I forget?
Alt. text: Two pieces of art hanging on the wall. The drawings feature Michelle Obama and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Drawn from Tim Burton’s personal archive and representing the artist’s creative output from childhood to the present day, this exhibition of 500 drawings, paintings, photographs, sketchbooks, moving-image works, and sculptural installations focuses on the recurrent visual themes and motifs that resonate in the distinctive characters and worlds found in Burton’s art and films.
While Tim Burton had been previously known almost exclusively for his cinematic work, including Beetlejuice (1988), Batman (1989), Edward Scissorhands (1990), Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), Ed Wood (1994), Big Fish (2003), Corpse Bride (2005), and Sweeney Todd (2007), the international exhibition of Burton’s art displays the full range of his creative production, revealing a versatile artist whose unique vision transcends mediums and formats.
The exhibition reveals an inimitable style that is informed by Burton’s specific perspective. His amalgamations of man, animal, and machine are evocative of an artistically-inclined Dr. Frankenstein with an unfettered imagination. The interplay between horror and humor figures prominently in Burton’s art and films and this theme of the “carnivalesque”—the mixture between comedy and the grotesque—is seen in projects from Batman to Alice in Wonderland (2010). Perhaps his most notable and well-known motif, the soulful melancholy of Burton’s iconic misunderstood outsiders—from Edward Scissorhands and Jack Skellington to the Corpse Bride and Frankenweenie—is deftly expressed in the drawings featured in the exhibition.
Timothy Walter Burton (b. 1958) grew up in Burbank, California, a homogenous suburban American neighborhood that compelled Burton to find respite and escape from its blandness. Guided by the movies on television, comics in the newspapers, myths and fables told in school, and other forms of popular culture as well as the holiday seasons (when houses and lawns in his neighborhood were decorated with festive trappings), Burton incorporated these lifelong influences into his art at an early age. His childhood sketches demonstrate Burton’s range and call to mind the work of his predecessors, including classic cartoonists and illustrators such as Edward Gorey, Charles Addams, Don Martin, and Theodore Geisel. The impact of Japanese monster movies, Expressionist Cinema, Universal Studios’ horror catalog, and suspense maestros William Castle and Vincent Price also permeate Burton’s work.
Comprised of works from his signature films and projects including The Nightmare Before Christmas and The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories (1997) to never-before-exhibited artworks, The World of Tim Burton is a deeply engaging experience that gives the public access to the artist’s very personal and singular output.
“The World of Tim Burton” is organized by independent curator Jenny He in collaboration with Tim Burton Productions.
