When I passed the closed Martinschurch on my little bike tour in Lühnde, there were notes attached to a clothesline stretched in a zigzag over the front door to take away. There was a text from the Bible on Psalm Sunday.
On the sunny day I couldn't help but draw a little there (despite a ban on drawing ??).

For several years now I have drawn a birthday card for a former colleague with the same birthday as me. I usually aim to draw a subject that has associations for her. After much head scratching this year I did this view of King's Manor in York. My friend is an archaeologist that studied historical buildings and got a masters degree in buildings studies from the University of York, based here at the King's Manor. The drawing, using a Pentel 0.5mm pencil on watercolour paper, is based on a study I made of the 17th century doorway and arms of Charles I. She got in touch to say she is thinking of framing the drawing. 2020 has been challenging for her. In addition to the coronavirus both her parents have been ill and need of her support. My drawings on social media she says "have been a welcome distraction". Glad to have been of help.
I'm honored that my drawing “2020 (Temma Lowly with her father and the quilt made for her by her aunt Amy)” is in this amazing exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington DC.
This sequence of photos below hopefully will help make sense of a significant–if obscure–aspect of this drawing.

More practice using the pen tablet to draw (XP-Pen 640S), still not sure what I'm doing with it.

In the video for my Kickstarter campaign for my new book, Another 1000 Days of Drawing, Josh LaFayette called me a “File Cowboy.” It made me laugh, so I decided to draw it.
Speaking of my Kickstarter, there’s just two more days to back my campaign by pre-ordering my new book (or some other cool stuff)!

Our final pose of the day was probably held for slightly less than 30 minutes.
I returned to a similar technique to the one I'd used for my line and wash drawing, with a reasonably careful pencil sketch followed by inking, but added crosshatching with my fine tipped pen and then put in some darker shadow areas (and hair) with a brush pen instead of adding watercolour washes.
After our tea break we continued with two more 30 minute poses.
I happened to be sitting more or less in line with the direction Elena positioned her head for the start of the pose, so I decided to start with a quick sketch in hard pastel from that vantage point.
I followed this up with another sketch from more or less the opposite end, in order to get another view that would fit onto the remaining space on the same sheet of paper. I switched to a different colour of pastel to provide a bit of separation between the sketches without having to keep them physically apart.
The two of these probably took about 5 minutes in total.
>> DIBUJO NUEVO << Borchi's back! 😲
For our final 10 minute pose, I switched to using conté crayons (mostly sanguine de Medicis, but with a bit of bistre for some of the shadows / line emphasis, and black for the hair) on A4 tan toned paper.

Our model for this session was Lily. She brought an aerial hoop with her but unfortunately a couple of vital components were missing from the A-frame that she'd borrowed to suspend it from, so we will have to wait for a future occasion to get hoop-based poses. Instead, we set up the room as we had last week, with a central dais formed by two tables.
The first couple of poses were 20 minute ones.
As usual, I did my first sketch with pencil in my A4 sketchbook. I took about 15 minutes for this.
