"We want to be free... Free to ride our machines without being hassled by the man!" It started out with old classics and lowriders and Harleys converging on the bridge and a car show broke out. Then some knuckle head brought unnecessary attention to the whole thing by lighting a smoke canister / bomb. From the distance I guess it looked as if some one was doing a burn out. The L.A.P.D. comes and breaks up the show. But as the photos prove the SHOW still went on.... UNDER THE BRIDGE.

Found some more photos taken with my old ROLLEI ROLLIFLEX 35 MM SLR of the '92 L. A. Riots.
A portion of Leimert Park Village at the corner of 43rd St & Degnan Blvd.
I can kick myself that I didn't sneak a few shots with my camera while the mayhem was going on. I was busy ducking and dodging and running red lights to avoid trouble. Almost all the pictures you see were taken on the third day of the riots when the Author-itah started to gain control.
I tip my hat to the journalist that were in the thick of it, they got some fantastic shots.
9 car wreck injuring 10 people at Crenshaw and Vernon in Leimert Park area of Los Angeles. Case of someone just driving too fast, I wonder if texting was involved.
Slauson avenue and Western. I don't know what happen but as soon as I started flickin off pictures the Boyz n Blue showed up and made everybody go home. When I meet up with the classic truck, muscle car & street rod crowd we don't get hassled by the Man.

The William Andrews Clark Memorial Library located in historic West Adams district of Los Angeles.
It's one of UCLA's major libraries for rare books and manuscripts. Specializing in English literature and history from 1641-1800. This Renaissance Revival building was built between 1924-1926 & designed by Robert D. Farquhar. Mr. Clark announced his intent to donate the collection and the building and property to UCLA upon his death. It has been apart of UCLA since 1934.
Santa Monica Frwy near Washington, Fairfax & La Cienega Boulevard collapsed, and it was so important to get it operational they began repairs the day after the earthquake even during after shocks.
Two man hole covers, asphalt & concrete shower street, front yards and driveways with debris when an underground electrical vault exploded which seems to have been caused by a nitrogen leak. Fortunately no one was hurt and only the back window of a car got blown out.
Well the show is over and everybody took off. Some went to cruise nite meet and greets others went on home or to grab late nite grub.
Wishing on a Star is a Eco-kinetic solar sculpture created by Charles Dickson out of his Compton art studio. He was my art teacher back in the day when I was a teen attending his classes in Watts and Compton. This beautiful work is made with many discarded items from engine and automotive suspension parts to rebar and computer and kitchen utensils and other scrap metal and glass.

On my way home spotted an out of control fire off in the distance.... couldn't resist had to go check it out.
Think this was taken by legend about London town Jim Rattail and it's the only record of our gig supporting Pansy Division at The Garage. Not a great photo.. We're clearly performing Schizoid here as it's the only one which I didn't play guitar on. One of my favourite songs of ours.
L-R Mona, Holly, Jasmine, Luis, me.
The Six Inch Killaz story returns soon to the draGnet.
I took these photos of this building across the street from my residence near the Wilshire/ Midtown area here in L.A. about 1978 or '79, a day after this apartment building suffered a deliberate natural gas explosion. An angry tenant who had received an eviction notice had opened a gas valve and tightly sealed up all the windows and doors of the apartment unit they stayed in. A few hours after they left, "BOOM !!" I believe the few people that were in their apartments received minor injuries. The blast caused a fire in the apartment building next door to it.
Taken with my old ROLLIE ROLLIFLEX 35 MM SLR.
