NS 12Z passes the CPLs at Stuarts Draft on a hot and muggy summer morning. Unfortunately, progress has been made in the slow signal replacement program along the Shenandoah Line, and replacements are standing here now a year later.
Train: NS 12Z with NS 8096 (ES44AC).

HOME OF THE THIRD
The Draft House is a small group of #PublicHouses which aims to do for #beer what our culture has done for #food and #wine over the past twenty years. Namely, we take its provenance, cellaring and serving seriously. We celebrate choice and quality with an extra-ordinary range of strange and wonderful brews.
"Britain is full of public houses of all shapes, sizes and varieties, but I felt we'd lost something special in recent years from British life and I wanted to provide a place that recaptured my idea of the perfect public house."
#TheDraftHouse is a charming place where you can - alone or with others - experience great beer, good food, interesting people and great conversation. It's a refuge for the soul for everyone who values civility in today's world. It's always genuine, staffed by people who love their job, packed with interesting stuff, plays good music and is frequented by people just like you.

This horse has all the markings of a draft horse, a farm work animal usually used to pull carriages or equipment. It has large hooves and is built strong. The coloring looks like The American Cream, the only draft breed indiginous to the United States. It is considered rare because of a genetic condition that has reduced its numbers. Minimal texture added to reduce sunlight glare. If any flickr members recognize the horse breed, let me know because I'm not sure. Chosen as cover photo on front page of Horses, Ponies, and Foals, Sept. 2019.
Gorgeous new Belleza applier has me out of hiding. Plus - I needed a distraction.
You can find the applier at the main store & this fucking fantastic liner is over at Summerfest.
...But all's been said and done
Will we ever really close this case?
Yeah, I will always be here for you, but I could no longer stay
Still my body goes in shock every time I hear your name
I struggle
I juggle
I could just throw a line to you
But I should let sleeping dogs lie 'cause I know better, baby
I write it
Erase it
Repeat it
But what good will it do
To reopen the wound
So I take a deep breath
And I save as draft
I've heard you've done some changing
I've been rearranging
Wish that I could know, but I just don't know
Never get that time back
Fear we'd fall in old traps
Why can't we just let go
Staring at a fork in the fucking road...

Northbound CTrail train 6402 had broken down just outside its final destination as P40DC 6701 (blt. Nov. 1993 by GE as AMTK 834, acquired in 2005 and rebuilt by Beech Grove in 2019-2020) suffered ground faults and sat disabled on the curve beneath Interstate 91 for over two and a half hours. The two passengers aboard were taken off the train and then management ultimately decided to leave the train until the next northbound showed up. After being rescued by train 6454 with P40DC 6711 the two sets (one with three Mafersa coaches and one with three MBBs) are seen shoving down to their spot on track four at Union Station in this telephoto view across CSXT's Berkshire Sub mainline at CP98. After a brief pause detrain their passengers and then load any folks headed south they started right back as a double draft to New Haven as train 6455.

Part of my lengthy chase of an early morning 16T between Buena Vista and Compton, Va brought me to the small borough of Stuarts Draft. Here, the train hustles north at track speed, passing one of the many ex-N&W signals that still guard the sidings on the Shenandoah Line.
The sun rises in the Shenandoah Valley over Stuarts Draft as the now fallen N&W protect the control point.

A trifecta of white pelicans glide gracefully across the sky. I woke up this morning with urge to fly. What I wouldn't give to be able to soar like a bird amongst the clouds.

I finallyl got around to refinishing my drafting table and moving it to a sunny location but now it is a share space.
I think this is what these four sand hill cranes are doing. Note the perfect spacing, wing position and diagonal line. (except for the last bird that is on a level plain)
There is always one that doesn't get the word. ;-']
