The downside of living in a neighborhood that pre-dates the spread of communications and electricity. It is really interesting to scan the skies of our quaint little South Pasadena,... with so much protection of our architectural heritage, it is a real wonder to me why more attention is not paid to the wired chaos polluting the tree lines. This image may not seem that out of the ordinary for most US towns, so I intend to post additional images that might be considered more extreme (there are plenty such locations I have encountered).
Lukas doing a downside whip on a temporary spot. Unfortunately its only a buttshot, but the background was even more disturbing from the other side.
But i still like the light and a nice whip.
Downside of flying in small jets is that thunderstorms are super exciting. Upside is that you get off the plane and walk into what looks like a freakin' movie set just after sunset.
Downside: it's so low, it looks like the kid's table.
It's my venerable Ikea Jerker, the worst name for a desk ever.
A few more brake van pictures from a walk around Ashford Downside Yard on 9 January 1972.
Here we see ex SR Pill Box No. DS55950 in the Engineers Sidings.
Downside Resource Centre was a care centre for the elderly and people with long-term health conditions. Sadly it has now been closed by the council and stands empty and derelict so I thought it was about time to get some photos. It is just around the corner from me but it was not that easy ! The whole place is fenced off with one gate that was padlocked but after scouting around the back I found a way in through someone elses property ( sorry folks ).
The whole place is gradually getting smashed up and as I looked behind a wall I discovered this buggy. Because it was in quite good condition I thought for one nasty minute there was a baby in it but it was just a sack of rubbish ( I think ! ) or maybe the spoils of a shoplifting trip !
Anyway, I was now spooked and the whole place took on a different feel so I didn't hang around to find out.
More pictures to follow....
The "downside" of indoor / outdoor Kitties.
Bobby went outside Friday night (eighteen weeks ago) as usual, I have not seen him since. We have had super hot and heavy rainstorm weather, so I hope he is with somebody, only because the other options are all bad.
Still holding out hope of his coming home.
Checked Animal Control / Shelter - very nice lady named Amy - Added Bobby to the missing Kitty list.
St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, Bath, Somerset, 6 July 2020. Built 1861-63 by the Bendecitine monks of Downside Abbey and had accommodation for a small community of priests. The Architect was Charles Francis Hansom (brother of the inventor of the Hansom cab) in Victorian Neo-Gothic style.
One of the downsides to living in the DC area is having to put up with the kooks and crazies that want to come here, get in the way, and air their idiotic viewpoints. Earlier this week it was the tinfoil hat crowd camped out on the steps of the Supreme Court trying to get it to entertain their conspiracy theory that the President-Elect isn't a natural born U.S. citizen. Now it appears that we have yet another demonstration of intellectually bankrupt ideological carpetbaggers coming to town.
They'll show up, mess up traffic, require the District to pay for a lot of police overtime, make themselves feel like they're doing something, accomplish nothing other than irking the people who live here, and then go back from whence they came. I guess this plague of angry crackpots is nothing new, though. This is the same city that played host to a Million Klan March back in the 1920s after all.
We get a few of these buffoon conventions each year and they're all ridiculous. The demonstrations, marches, etc. are never actually for anything. They just rail loudly and impotently against their personal Satan-of-choice: abortion rights, the Bush Administration, the World Bank/IMF, capitalism, and now the Federal Reserve. Apparently the Federal Reserve was the secret puppetmaster behind the invasion of Iraq, the financial sector bail-outs, and the 'inflation tax,' whatever the hell that might be.
Why stop there? Why not also blame the Fed for Hurricane Katrina, the Irish Potato Famine, the extinction of the dinosaurs, and the musical 'Cats' (now there's a crime against humanity). These yahoos aren't even original. They're basically just recycling the same 'evil bankers are controlling the world' arguments the White Supremacist wackos have been espousing for years with their 'Protocols of Zion' BS.
These migratory nutjobs do a disservice to the occasional worthwhile protests that do come to DC and invariably get lumped in with the limpwits. The First Amendment gives you the right to petition the government for redress of grievances. It does not give you the right to be an obnoxious twit who pointlessly aggravates your fellow citizens just to boost your sense of self-worth.
Next month the idiot brigade will spin the 'Big Wheel O' Stupidity' and pick a new cause celebre at which to shake their fists and gnash their teeth. I can hardly wait to see what it will be next. I nominate 'people who clip their nails on the Metro.' That's a scourge I could support eliminating.

The downside of looking for neat old cars and trucks in the U.P. in the winter is that most of them are completely buried and look like unidentifiable lumps or igloos. This one was peeking out a bit.
The latest service station to bless the M25 motorway, currently under construction at Downside, Surrey, UK.
Fairly discreetly placed - sandwiched between the motorway and railway line.
The rider is attempting to fix 3 water bottles where only 1 is normally fitted. All a bit 11th hour to me...

Omg. Okay so I was Sooo excited when i found out I got tickets to go to this. Knowing how much the prices for MAC stuff at the stores, THIS WAS A HUUUUGE SALE. Things were like 50% off or less. Really good stuff. I didnt include all the stuff that was bought today. I woke up at 5am like a psycho, and woke everyone up. We ended up leaving aorund 7am.. Since it takes a while to get to that place, we were there @ 8am.. The sale starts at 9am. But there was already a line up, although it wasnt so bad, so i didnt mind :) I was soooo happy.
Only downside.. I made a list of the stuff i wanted to get.. i barely found anything on that list. smh. its okay, im still happy with what i got :)

Gravity is a given. Its anchor is a constant force within constant spin. By changing our physical orientation in space, we may fundamentally upend, well, just about everything.
For Downside Up, Kristin Geneve Young will lead participants in challenging their senses of vision, equilibrium and proprioception. Balance tests, climbing exercises and aerial inversions will be used to focus the senses throughout the walk, inviting the group to respond to overlooked pockets of Midtown.
