This is an old mining access trail going off of the Trapper Trail. Where it goes I am not entirely sure, but the hills around this area are rife with these old trails, roads, and double tracks. They make for great mountain bike rides, though!

This is another one of those confusing trails. The lower portion of the Cedar Grove trail at the junction with Elderberry signage seems to indicate that it is OK to use this trail for mountain biking, while the upper portion says No. It is also confusing since the Cedar Grove trail seems to have three branches that radiate from the junction with the Elderberry Trail.
"You're in the wrong parking lot!" he yelled, two seconds before he found himself in the wrong parking lot too.
Interesting juxtaposition. What affected one that didn't affect the other? Did the one try to grow too fast and had undeveloped roots? Are the conditions that different on one side of the road?
This is the former east bridge abutment for the LE&P flyover that used to exist in Brady Lake, Ohio. It carried the LE&P's westbound mainline track over the C&P (now the NS Cleveland Line - the doubletrack main in the foreground) and joined the LE&P's eastbound mainline track (the track at right going uphill). This trestle was removed in the 1990s as a part of Conrail's doublestack clearance project.
UP 8748 leads a westbound Union Pacific double-stack container train up the Hill, westbound at Floriston. This SD70ACe model diesel-electric locomotive was built by EMD in 2012. Floriston CA USA, 4 September 2017.
My first time here, and it's all doubletrack exactly like this. It made for some fast and boring riding. The Lucky Stone Loop was the only trail that wasn't "groomed".
Rail tracks at countryside in Kyoto, Japan. Rail transport in Japan is a major means of passenger transport.
I rode my Epic on the N. Fork Asotin Creek trail today. I suffered 2 flat tires, so I don't know how much further the trail continues, but I was able to travel along 8 miles of trail, comprised of smooth fast doubletrack, smooth singletrack, and some rocky knarly bits. This is a nice trail, aside from its tire-eating habits.
During those eight miles, Scott and I saw birds, we saw dog-like tracks in snow and we saw some pretty awesome scenery. Unlike fly flipper, we saw no bighorns on the trail today. That's OK though, we saw two rams on the road on the way in, so we got our fix.

Just before setting out this morning on a road ride, Rudy mentioned he had purchased some materials to put together a raft and was going to spend some time in the afternoon putting it in place. 4 hours on the bikes, a quick lunch and then we were cutting wood and styrofoam for a light raft.
5 years of talking about it and in only 3 hours we had a raft and a line across. This gives us another loop on the mtn bikes...
