George Garside's Motor Rail Simplex 20/28hp 4-wheel diesel-mechanical No.29 'Ayala' (works No.7374 of 1939) at Double Arches shed, adjoining the Leighton Buzzard Light Railway, on 30th July 1970. The Simplex loco is now privately preserved in Essex.

I am indebted to Pete Arnold for the following information:

"Both Joseph Arnold & George Garside had quarries and sand processing plants at Double Arches. This photo shows the Garsides loco shed there and was never anything to do with Arnolds who had their own loco shed "next door"! The former LBLR locos were always shedded at Billington Road. However Arnolds ran their own locos from Double Arches to deliver sand to Stonehenge Bricks/Driroof Tiles. Similarly Garsides used their own locos between Mundays Hill, Eastern Way Works and Double Arches."
