Our Daily Challenge: BOWL(S)

Another view of Nguaruhoe, perhaps looking even more imposing that the other images. This was "Mount Doom" in LOTR. In the bottom left quadrant, note the road going up the slope.

I was fascinated and amazed by the runny lava flows on the steep slopes. I found it surprising at how runny the lava was, and that it cooled and hardened on the steep inclines rather than running down to the base.

NS 7276 clickity-clacks west on the former DME Waseca Subdivision with train 471 for RCPE interchange at Tracy. These SD70ACU's were so darn cool, and it's really unfortunate they were so short lived in nationwide mainline run through power interchange. Can't expect good results taking junk in to the shop and doing a budget rebuild on them and hoping they'd turn out better. EMD's 90 series core was such a flop, right from the start. This thing is currently on the FXE as PRLX 7276 as of 6/2024, likely destined to be an ingredient of a railroad demolition derby down there. The trailing SD70 is currently still employed by NS as SD70ACC 1843, with a much less appealing wide cab on it.

It's been a while since I've uploaded, but I've been working on lots of content for release as we get closer to BFVA. One such custom is Commander Doom, a long-overdue figure that I've had designed for ages but never went through to make.

This one has is covered head to toe with decals on every surface of the minifigure, topped off with a painted CAC visor, a CAC waistcape, and a custom made antenna and helmet light. These are new items that I have and are available as a choice to be added to a figure, as each of these items are resin casted or hand made.

Speaking of resin casting, those Stormtrooper sets won't be the only casted set I'll be selling, so keep an eye out for more! As always, expect more, and I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Hi everyone!

Let us introduce you Lill and Bomi, on the brand new Doom body (60cm). One of each (handcasted in resin) will be available at Ldoll festival. We hope you will like them!

A wet northbound on the IC&E slowly passes through the Iowa countryside behind an ICE SD40-2 and a hired goon. At the time, the area was under a tornado watch and the train was running at restricted speed.

I miss the variety that we once enjoyed; this image near Green Island just wouldn't be the same if it was a pair of crusty CP beavers.

Another random summer evening thunderstorm passing over Brookhaven.

Usually when I make Batman versions of characters I've never made before, I try to make the real versions as well. So when I made my Doom Batrol figures, I wanted to make these too. I had to wait a bit since I was looking to get the reddish brown curly hair for Rita, but here they are! Not much changed from the bats tbh. I know Cliff's helmet isn't ideal, but I think it's the best I can do without that Hero Factory one.

CN SD60 5404 leads CN A446 east past the soon to fall g-head in Broadview, IL. The switch and bulldozer tell the tale, big changes are coming here soon. The Freeport Sub will soon be completely CTC which will greatly improve operations, including right here where the manual switches will soon be replaced with power switches. The replacement signals are up and turned just out of view to the left.

Some of my early urbex. This is atomic headquarter. I shot this with Minolta 505si and Ilford Delta 3200. Posted to show how nicely close to Ilford output is the film grain mode in the entry level OM-D Olympus. Great fun.

Nice to know you can still get your Alien vibes in Doomed Ship all these years later :D

Love it when this happens. Doom On one side, cheer on the other.

The cloud hung over Scotland's most photographed mountain nearly all morning but in the end I got bored of waiting and made the shot anyway. In hindsight I'm glad the sky didn't clear - I love the way the cloud wraps itself around the 3500ft peak - reminds me of Mount Doom in Lord of the Rings, preciousssss.......

Totally meant to post this on Saturday but forgot all about it!

I've had this guy done for a while (along with a couple others), but finally got around to posting him. Doom and his troopers had some of the coolest designs of the Clone Wars, so I made sure to capture as much of that detail as I could! It's on figures like these that the wrap-around decals really shine, since none of the original white surface is showing (except inside the legs).

Got a few more Star Wars customs one the way and some from other genres! Keep an eye out for those, and there will be another tutorial up this weekend as well! So as always, expect more, and I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Here is the time lapse movie I took at Seealpsee, while capturing the image in my last posthttps://flic.kr/p/2aLF9TY

It is a 90min sequence that shows impressively how fast fog can move. I would have preferred to shoot a longer sequence, but the weather had other plans...

Thank you very much everyone for your visits, comments and faves. They're greatly appreciated.

Happy 'Roid Week, day 3!

This was shot in Arches National Park. I'm a fan of this BW film from Impossible, and am finding it a lot more reliable than the color PX70 film!

Its not all flat and boring in North Otago. Train 920 brings up a load of coal containers headed for South Canterbury's milk drying plants on a dark and stormy morning a week ago.

Prompt:

A photograph of an industrial oil and gas plant with towering steam towers, under dark, stormy skies. The scene is illuminated by the glow from nearby lights on vehicles in the foreground. Captured using a Sony Alpha A7R IV camera, with a wide-angle lens, high resolution for intricate details, dramatic lighting emphasizing textures and materials, and a full-body shot to capture the scale of the facility. --ar 50:39 --quality 2 --p --v 6.1

I shared these guys over on Insta, but kinda felt like I was leaving Flickr out of the loop, so here they are, YOU'RE WELCOME!

I finally made the Doom Patrol! Are you happy now?!
