“Pumpkin pie spice has been mentioned in cookbooks dating to the 1890s.
Blended pumpkin pie spice was introduced commercially by McCormick & Company in 1934.and is now commercialized by many companies.
The American coffee chain Starbucks developed a Pumpkin Spice Latte in January 2003, adding it to a range of seasonal winter drinks. Starbucks' director of espresso Americas, Peter Dukes, said that "developers realized there was something special around the pumpkin flavor, especially since there wasn't anything around pumpkin at the time". The company experimented with different combinations and ratios of pumpkin to spice, ultimately deciding on a recipe with no pumpkin in it. It became Starbucks' most popular seasonal beverage.”
This Donut Shop was a collaborative build with David Costa. It was a really fun experience, and I think the result is awesome. Full instructions are available on my website and instructions of just the donut can be seen in the next photo.

Some great art painted on this donut shop! I'm thinking Slauson Donuts was once-upon-a-time a Winchell's Donuts? The sign looks like it's the same shape.
Best Donut in Quang Binh, better than alot of Donut brand in Saigon. :)

Until this summer - I had never heard of, or enjoyed, a fruit called "Donut Peaches". When the "fruit man" arrived in town this summer - he handed out samples of this delightful peach - and now I am hooked. I find them to be sweeter and juicier than a regular peach, and I can't wait to get my hands on some more.
**(Donut peaches are distinguished by their shape, which is roughly rounded and squat with a dimpled center at the fruit's stem end. The fruit's skin has a velvety finish and is flushed with tones of ivory, rose and rouge. Within the fruit's core is its non-clinging, easy to remove pit. Its creamy, juicy-when-ripe flesh is low-acid with a candy-like sweetness and a melting quality. The sweetness is due to what is referred to as the honey gene, a dominant gene that is found in all Chinese peach varieties. Documentation of peaches was first recorded in Chinese writings during 1100 B.C.)
I didn't know about these peaches until I came to Vancouver.
They have such a cute shape and are so sweet and tasty !

About once a year I start reminiscing of the perfect donut I once had and will buy one or two from the local confectioners to try them. All seems hopeful until I take that first bite, then I remember right away why I never buy these.
Until next year that is... memory is a funny thing.
Probably not my proudest of moments.

I was told this donut nudibranch (Doto greenamyeri ) was only found in Bali. When my guide in Bangka told me they have them in Bangka, I did not believe him until he showed them to me on a dive. I stand corrected!
JUNE 2021 UPDATE: I learned some sad news today. This magnificent sign has been removed!
Sadly, this Dunkin' Donuts on US 1 in the Lake Park area of West Palm Beach is no longer a diner/restaurant -- it's just a regular DD donut shop now -- and I'm doubly sad that I didn't get the chance to visit here when it was. Not for lack of opportunity -- I just didn't know it even existed. If I had, we would have been there in a heartbeat. (It's also the first Dunkin' Donuts, apparently, established in Florida.)
For old sign lovers, it's still a must-visit, but you won't be able to get a hot cooked-to-order meal; I settled for a sandwich, a coffee and, of course, a donut.
