Oh the title is a comment on the contrast between the grasping, rising outer stamens and the cowed bent over central ones. As far as I can make out they are all the same, just their attitude is different.

They can because they think they can...

So as I mentioned in my last photo, I was thinking of bringing back my CPTSD theme, well, I also was considering writing Trigger Warning after the title, but then again you've already seen the photo, so, err, yea... however, that said, this shit needs to be spoken about, ***Trigger Warning*** below...

Please Note: This is all about education, awareness and support, it is not meant for sympathy or anything else on those lines.

The subject here is perhaps one of the most horrible symptoms concerning CPTSD (Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), that is, Suicide Ideation, that is to become obsessed over the consideration of committing suicide, it works like intrusive thoughts but whilst they can be random, these versions are fixating upon the one subject matter. Many a time I was trapped into this form of thinking, my own personal methodology differed but on one particularly horrifying night, I ended up in intensive care after a failed OD, and other attempts through the years that landed me in psyche wards, often arriving in handcuffs in the back of an ambulance under the escort of less than sympathetic police officers.

One of the most hardest and cruellest aspects of Suicide Ideation, is when in the actual act, if the thoughts have driven one to it, is the locked in combination of suffering Depression and Anxiety at the same time, picture this; two tornadoes one clockwise, one anti clockwise and you are caught emotionally between the two, so thus the depression tells you to do it, that you're worthless, life is shit, etc, but the Anxiety tells you that you are too afraid, you don't know what's on the otherside, there's no turning back, on and on it spins around in your head. Ultimately the anxiety can be your best friend and pulls one back at the last moment, thank god!

I never succeeded, obviously, but fuck me I came close and I would strongly advise, if you are feeling this way, you speak to someone, you have every right to live. Remember, it's truly an emotional bluff (as big and convincing as it may seem), you are better than your thoughts and you are a hero for coming this far, having ever faced such a battle, never, ever give in to it my dear friend. It's actually because you just want the goddamn pain to stop, it can, and it will!

Think of it like this, so many people before you have been there, survived and thereafter life got beautiful for them, you are no exception from that miracle, I am living proof. Now I use my experience to guide others as I hope I am doing here. You live in a universe of infinite possibilities and life can still surprise you. Believe that!

I hope everyone is well and so as always, thank you! :)

PS: If however you are getting to that point, please consider going here...

I would love to drive one of these but car enthousiast of Flickr, hear me, and hear me now.... don't buy grey/ silver cars.

Boom!

Don't do it.

I'm driving one now and picking a silver color was the biggest mistake of my life.

Silver/ grey cars are not real cars. They have no soul. They have no heartbeat. They don't talk to you. They are clinical. Don't buy them. You will have a happy life. Thank me later.

Guys, you can`t belief how relieved I am to be back on my beloved board. After 12 years of usuall minor skateinjuries something big happened: I broke my spine about two months ago. Two vortexes were badly injured after I took of over the hip in our local pool -haha- I call this art of stupidity: neckbreaker attempt. Hearing your spine break is such an ugly, at the same time most scary, sound. Instant breathlessness, thoughts of paraplegia ... That`s what I call being shattered!! Killing pain like a stuck dagger between those vortexes was my best friend for the past months. Physiotherapy. I turned felt 80, no sports, no adrenalin, no moshpit, mostly laying around reading or watching shit. A fine way to start the summer, huh?!

But thank god and my catlike reflexes everything`s fine again. No long-term damages, just a slight pain left. Time to please my first love again! <3 Like Grosso said: "If you wanna play, you gotta pay!" Stay healthy, worship your health and keep up the fun in Skatebaord & Punkrock making!! It`s all about the feeling.

I am playing around with a couple of things here.

#1 I got the cactus V4 wireless flash trigger and after 1 hr of playing around ... I LOVE IT. So damn cool!! For what I will be using it I think this is a much better (read cheaper) way than going the pocketwizard route.

#2 I have been playing around with putting watermarks on my photos and/or combining some sort of typography so here is my first attempt. Let me know what you think. The font is handvetica.

Only just spotted these and didn't know what plant it was and thought it would never give any fruit. Now i know and it's way out of my comfort zone at 1-1.5 million Scoville Heat Units, i can handle up to about 3500 SHU, though beyond that, no way:)

This is how an hard drive looks inside.

In case you are courious and want to do the same, NEVER ever try this (opening the hard drive) with a functional hard disk because it is a destructive operation. I used an already faulty one. And... remember to regulary back up your important data... :)

There's a few things I'm not sure about in this photo. Not that it matters. Tug Zone, is, indeed, one of them.

shoulda went bigger.. oh well.

I bought a disposable camera from Urban Outfitters in early January, and it was one of those that was pre-exposed to cats... I was thinking little cats all over, that would be cute, but that is not even close to what I got. Turns out the cats are huge, and completely take over the frames. Most aren't even in the frame, and carry over into others. This was one of two photos that had no cats, and its the best one off the roll (which was Superia 400)

This is one of the most dangerous things in our home and from past horrible experience we know this to be true!! Some of my Flickr contacts will recall the horrific accident that Lewis experienced, approximately 18-months ago. Lewis, pulled a cup of boiling hot coffee over himself and was severely burned! He was rushed to hospital and thanks to the doctors and nurses at Yorkhill Sick Children Hospital, in Glasgow he made a full recovery. The only thing that reminds us of his burns is that each and every time he's out in the sun we have to put suncream on his little face and neck ~ oh also a constant reminder, is when we pour coffee (even if we have coffee at Starbucks) or anything hot is around the kitchen, Lewis always says 'burny, burny". One very hard lesson learned, by all of our family!!

Please ensure your kitchens are safe proof for young children and toddlers! Our experience was the worst day ever in our lives!!

Have you ever thought about it? I'm sure you have...and not in that sad or angry or depressed way either.

I've never been suicidal, so to my friends out here, this is not a cry for help. But can any of you say you've seriously never thought about what it must feel like to die in this kind of way? Well, I have. Maybe it's twisted, maybe it's normal, i don't know...

You're driving down the road, nobody on it, and your mind just starts wandering..."what would it feel like if i just let go of the wheel and let the car take me wherever it wanted, even into that ditch over there?"

You're standing near the ledge of a 3 story parking garage and you look down..."What would a fall like that feel like?"

Let's just say this...I'm glad I'm sitting here typing this right now. Because I love being alive. And though you probably couldn't tell, this is a Rave for life, as well as a Mission. Hug the ones you love today...and check out my other Mission24 shot as well!

How well do you really know your child's best friend ??

shot in a homemade light box. made out of elmer's foam core boards. the two sides and top are white, while the back and bottom are black. there is a round hole in the top for my flash. the flash placed at different angles and power settings gives some pretty nice results. plus you can bounce the flash off the sides of the box.

Nope! I'm not showing you the box. I'm not even going to show you a photo (of mine) of the lens. I didn't take one. I had a feeling I'd regret it if I did take one. I was right.

*steps up onto soapbox podium*

I bought the "El Cheapo" 50mm 1.8 II NON-USM ONLY because my $5 scratch ticket netted me $50, and ONLY because I was interested in trying something that had a wider aperture than 3.5. Two days later, I hauled back to the store, dropped down on my knees and begged the salesman to "PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take this piece of crap back!!!!!!! I'll pay YOU $20 to take it away!!!!" He gave me the cash w/o even a question and no signature needed. And I would have taken it back the same day if I hadn't been out of town!

I haven’t felt this bad about a product since…since…well…

THIS!!!, where even the guy in the music store said “my bad, I should have warned you first.” [That was back in the days where they had these things called "records stores" where you'd go and buy music and most of it was good, kids.]

Again, I'm talking about the "el cheapo" 50mm, not the USM version. I tried taking portraits with it on the canal walk in Richmond on Saturday and nearly fell in the doggone water because I had to be 40 feet away from my subject just to get her EYE in the frame!!!! I pretty much knew it was going to be that way but goodness...

The focusing was slooooooooow (and loud) AND the results were blurry. The build quality felt like a used dollar store flip flop. The BEST thing about the thing was its weight. That's because I'm sure there isn't any REAL GLASS in there! My XTi was like “Why are you doing this to me? I’m so humiliated!”

But forget the build quality. Even if you have the fastest focus and clearest glass, it still doesn’t solve the problem of that its 50 freaking millimeters (But you and I know good and well that it's a LIE. It's 80mm once you attach it to a non-full frame body. And 80mm is worthless), or the problem below.

If you need to lose weight, the "el cheapo" EF 50mm f/1.8 II is the lens for you! This applies even if you use the USM version or the L-series version. Don't even THINK about kneeling for a shot unless you plan on staying there for a while. Any change (and I mean ANY change) in angle or perspective at all and you have to get your butt up and MOVE significantly. If you're the studio person taking the same shot over and over again, you're okay. Maybe this should be called the “achy breaky lens” because that’s how you’re going to feel if you use this thing and move. Knees, back, neck, arms…you’re going to feel it. Maybe this is a great lens for kids or whippersnappers with energy.

Walk around, shmalkaround. So WHAT if it’s light? Just make sure you’re not near anything you want to shoot, yet, not too far either. Just because you can’t get a tennis ball in the frame from 20 feet, doesn’t mean that you can try to use it for far away subjects either. Fischer Price uses higher grade plastic.

I’ve heard all of the arguments for prime lenses and I’ve tried one myself. SAVE IT! I know it wasn’t a quality lens, but that’s not the point. If I can’t even compose anything with it, there’s no use of it for me. If you ever see or hear of me using one again, please applaud me because it means I have become wealthy enough to afford a nice studio and have the wealth to blow money on L-series lenses that don’t zoom. I’m not telling you not to get it. But I hope no one ever tries to tell ME that I just have to have it ever again. I'll just spend the money on a REAL lens that has a wider aperture one of these days.
