Dollar Tree #5883 (12,564 square feet)

This location opened in spring 2015; it was originally Revco #383, which was built and opened in 1995. It became an Eckerd in summer 1997, which closed in April 2000, then became Dollar General #8957 in 2002.

Dollar Tree #770 (18,884 square feet)
6449 Centralia Road, Chesterfield Meadows Shopping Center, Chesterfield, VA
I found this old cash register inside of an abandoned train caboose. Seen behind the register, the cash drawer had been broken and removed. There's so much history and stories that these items could tell.
To protect the contents from further abuse and vandalism, I'd rather not mention the details of this location.

This is the Dollar General discount store located at 9448 Highway 805 in Jenkins, KY. It originally opened in 1999 as a replacement for the smaller Dollar General store (now a local florist shop) a couple doors down from this building (which I’m not sure as to what this building was before it became a Dollar General).
A lady passing by flyers saying "You will learn English. You will learn computer. 50 Egyptian pounds only." This is basically less than 3 U.S. dollars.

The Dollar Tree in the center, along with a few other businesses. The Dollar Tree itself is quite interesting, with some old decor and old fonts on signs.

I added a few extra folds to remove the white edges, it gives it a different look. Great for Halloween.
340 Fourth Avenue, Pittsburgh
The Fourth Avenue Historic District is a historic district in downtown Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. The district was the center of finance and banks for the city during the decades surrounding the turn of the 20th Century.
According to Dollar Bank's website, the bank experienced strong growth following its founding in 1855. And in 1865, the bank bought several lots of land here on Fourth Avenue between Wood and Smithfield Streets. However, building materials were in short supply after the American Civil War, and construction of this building did not commence until four years later in 1869. Fourteen thousand tons of brownstone quarried in Portland, Connecticut and shipped here to create this impressive façade.

Irrational brain says you could just walk by to see if it is open. Rational brain say but you don't need to buy anything there until next week. I did walk by, but didn't go in.
Dollar Cove is named after the treasure that it's been claimed is sometimes found here. In 1669 a Spanish Ship, the San Salvador, was lost just offshore from the beach and was said to be laden with silver dollars.

As always, I'm not one to do a rigid trip around the store tour (a.k.a. "stour"), but this next shot just happens to be taken right inside the entrance door. And in case you remember seeing photos of the inside of this store before on flickr, your memory would be correct! Retail Retell has a few photos posted, starting with this one, taken back in late December 2016 and showing a still operational Fred's pharmacy. Keep scrolling right once at that link for those additional photos.

You Get A Million Dollars - just like Oprah giving away cars. The Honourable Chrystia Freeland, Canada's deputy prime minister opened the Toronto City Hall launch of the 55th annual Toronto Caribbean Carnival by announcing a one-time grant of a million dollars to the often cash strapped festival! She then dashed off to the airport for a flight to Vancouver, leaving us reporters/photographers wondering what that was all about!
