A piece of Venice... McKinley hills , BGC PH

smile on saturday #paint(ed)

Dollar Lake is a natural lake at about 10,000 feet in the West Elk Mountains. I could see trout in the shallow water in the foreground.

Happy Sliders Sunday!

We have some "silver dollar" plants growing on the side of our house so I cut some and put them in a vase. Not sure how common these are. They were here when we purchased the house and they come up every year.

……Where the sea meets land the clouds rejoice! I’m always on the lookout when we are at the coast and I wasn’t disappointed this day! Dollar Cove, Gunwalloe on the Lizard peninsula. Alan:-)…….

~With the stems broken, ready to fall to the ground, germinate and start a new life.~

Fascinating is the plant that can visually hook gardeners, not with fancy foliage nor flashy flowers, but rather dried seed pods—those faded leftovers of a glorious growing season. Well, welcome to the strangely fascinating world of lunaria (Lunaria annua) also known as silver dollar plant or money plant because of the round, parchment-like seed casings it produces in late summer that have the shimmer of freshly minted silver coins.

ON/OFF - Thank you very much for visiting and commenting! Really appreciated!

One of the smaller frames, but a full frame none the less, 5/8 inch square.

Y'know, I wanted bigger seas, more clouds, fewer footprints in the sand, a higher tide ... then there was no room at the nearby inn for dinner so we had to settle for fish & chips beside the harbour in Porthleven ... what a wasted evening! 😠

They are now hanging in my garden...

Thank you for looking and for your faves, I really appreciate you all... and I'm sorry to be posting so much... just trying to clear out my folder!!

Enjoy the day and the rest of the week!!

……Gunwalloe on the Lizard peninsular, a walk we regularly did in an evening - more happy memories of our last Cornish trip. Alan:-)…….

Fire Sky at Sunset - Dollar Bay Wexford

Abrams Peak and Uncompahgre Gorge, U.S. Route 550, Million Dollar Highway, Ouray, Colorado

If you want autumn colors, incredible views, and some fun driving then you cannot go wrong with the Million Dollar Highway in the San Juan Mountains in early October. Uncompahgre Gorge, along with the scenic nearby mountain town of Ouray, is known as "The Switzerland of America". The changing aspen foliage here in autumn is truly lovely, so driving the highway in late September to early October is an important factor.

The Million Dollar Highway has a reputation for both great beauty and, for America anyway, hazardous driving. This is exaggerated certainly; in clear weather and maintaining the speed limits, it is fully safe as long as you can keep your eyes on the road. But I would not drive it during inclement weather, especially storms - sudden waterfalls appear and wash across the road, which in most places does not have guardrails (enabling fast snow removal during winter).

This is from Bear Creek Falls viewpoint, just South of Ouray. I highly recommend this dizzying stop. Standing on the platform, this view is in front of you; look extreme left and down and the bridal veil-like Bear Creek Falls is almost directly below you. Not recommended though for those folks who have vertigo...

…one from an evenings stroll ‘wave watching’ - a most relaxing pastime when visiting the coast, no Silver Dollars found on this visit sadly. Hope your W/End is going well, Alan:-)…..

We have to buy these fish for the pond, From what I am told is they do a really good job at keeping all the muck down. I am not sure I understand what "muck" really is, but the fish must like to eat it. At least until the Blue Heron comes along. And make a free meal out of our 12 dollar fish.

Took this shot, while sitting on the dock of a friends house, overlooking the Rideau River. Across the river is where the rich live, as you can see this huge house in construction is worth over one million dollars!

December Nights at Dollar Bay

An Oriental dollarbird (Eurystomus orientalis) was framed enjoying morning sunshine from the top of a tree. The morning sunshine made it look glowing with colours here. Pics was taken from a garden in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.

Million Dollar Quartet is a recording of an impromptu jam session involving Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Johnny Cash made on December 4, 1956, at the Sun Record Studios in Memphis, Tennessee

The ranch of course is on Last Dollar Road. It is near the north side of the road. I believe that is Mt. Sneffels in the background.

The road to the ranch entry is easy to drive.

This was shot on the side of the road of the Million Dollar Highway. It was like this the whole time we were In the San Juans. Doesn't happen often, but when it does, it is just magnificent.
