Mark is seen here on the final approach to the Allt Scheicheach bothy. We had cycled for a couple of hours to reach this point. Soon we would dump our bikes in readiness for a hike up the remote Beinn Dearg. Being Early December daylight hours would be limited so it was no surprise that we returned back along this section in twilight and of course it was pitch black by the time the car was reached. In fact on the return Mark fell off twice as he skidded in the dimly lit snow. I didn't laugh that much honest.

At least twenty of these butterflies were hanging around in my garden this late afternoon. This one was sitting on my broom made of dead twigs.
Tomorrow I will fly my broom to Archeon to see some goblinfriends, witches, pirates, and other strange people from Middle Earth and Shadowland.

Shisen-dō (詩仙堂) is a Buddhist temple of the Sōtō Zen sect in Sakyō-ku, Kyoto, Japan. It is registered as a historic site of Japan. It stands on the grounds of its founder, the Edo period intellectual Ishikawa Jōzan (1583–1672), who established the temple in 1641.
A room in the main temple displays portraits of thirty-six Chinese poets. The selection of the poets was based on the opinion of Hayashi Razan. The portraits were executed by Kanō Tan'yū. This and some other parts of the building date to the time of Ishikawa Jōzan.
The temple's gardens are considered masterworks of Japanese gardens.[1] One of them includes a device called a sōzu, a type of shishi-odoshi designed to scare away wild animals such as deer by making a loud noise. Water trickles into a bamboo tube, and when it reaches a certain level, it upsets the balance of the tube. The tube tips over on a pivot, discharging the water, and turns upright, striking a rock and emitting a loud clapping noise.

This is a 379 seconds exposure in a very cloudy night which was a shame, so no startrails on this one :(, in a pitch black place perfect for this kind of photography. The Menhir was illuminated in 3-4 intervals of 3 secs by a flashlight so we've got enough light to be able to see the texture of the stone.
In Photoshop I layered the composition, one layer with a cold white balance for the sky and one as shot for the Menhir and ground, applied the mask and voila!
Made at the beginning of the 4th and middle of the 3rd millennium b.C., on a chronological age known as "Eborense megalithic era", this megalithic monument, phallic shaped, was erected in a lowland near to Monsaraz's hill, in a isolated way both in harmony with the surroundings.
With almost 5,6m height and 1 of diameter, was discovered in 1969 by Henrique Leonor Pina and José Pires Gonçalves, laid on floor. By the own initiative, the menhir was restored and re-erected in that decade.
With no decorations in its surface, it seems to belong to a very particular megalithic era, represented by many menhirs in the region, like Almendres and de central post of the Xerês Chromelec
It's consider the most notable isolated menhir of Iberic's Peninsula and one of the most notable in whole Europe.

La Iglesia do Carmo en Lisboa fue destruida por el terremoto que tuvo lugar el 1 de noviembre de 1755. Fue uno de los terremotos más destructivos y mortales de la historia, causando la muerte de entre 60.000 y 100.000 personas.
Tras el terremoto se dijo que sería reconstruida, pero esto nunca sucedió.
Actualmente alberga el museo arqueológico de Lisboa.
The "Iglesia do Carmo" in Lisboa was destroyed by the earthquake that took place on November 1755. It was one of the most destructive and deadly earthquakes in history, killing between 60,000 and 100,000 people.
Following the earthquake was reported to be rebuilt, but this never happened.
Today it houses an archaeological museum in Lisboa.

London Sovereign VLE23 on route 183 in Harrow.
This picture completes a set of pictures of VLE23, with old VA blinds, on all of Edgware's daily routes (excluding school routes). Since its arrival at Edgware up until September 2016, VLE23 was generally allocated to the 114 and ran on the last day of the route with London Sovereign. However it would occasionally deviate off the 114 with 13 appearances, so far, on the 183, with one such working depicted here in Harrow during July 2016. In addition to this, VLE23 has also made nine appearances on the 292 with the qualifier for Colindale Superstores displaying ASDA. Any bus other than a VH is typically rare on Sovereign's flagship route 13 into Central London. VLEs have, and still do appear on the route albeit very rarely. VLE23 has, to date, only made two appearances (and only two trips!) on the 13, with the last being as recent as the 20th September! For completeness sake, VLE23 has also run on the 605 seven times, 618 once and the 619 twice, to date. The VA blind set does not have 605, and 618/9 which were new routes last year so sightings on these routes have not been counted as it does not have any displays for them!
