Illuminated Tram Parade in Blackpool 1 of 2.

A pure fluke but the young face bottom left makes this for me. The giant puppets were great fun to watch.

A calm early morning scene of the Nile River in Mansoura, showing riverside buildings and their clear reflections on the water. A light mist adds a serene and poetic atmosphere to the cityscape.

College Green, Bristol, England, United Kingdom, on Saturday 26th April 2025.

About this photographs.

This photograph was taken at the junction of College Green and Anchor Road, opposite the Bristol Marriott Royal Hotel.

This dude was just sitting on what appears to be a bench of some sort, in front of a shop, and using his smartphone. At that time, many transgenders had started a protest, and started marching towards city centre, they were going past his guy.

I thought to try a street photography kind of candid capture by taking a photo, while the protesters were still in this street.

It was originally shot in colour, but during Adobe Lightroom, I decided to convert it into black and white for the good old fashion classic photography looks.

After taking a few photos of this guy, I keep up with the marching protesters towards the city centre.

On this occasion I fell for the wily charms of a local prostitute. She asked for two quid for chips and a coffee whilst I asked for some photos for posterity in exchange! Not only is she a prostitute by profession but in this instance an Officer of Fair Trade ;O)

Despite her seemingly lax approach she is not unwise to the prying eyes of CCTV in the vicinity and does her best to avoid them whilst working.

Although local vice in the Holbeck/Sovereign Street area can be the object of scorn, I find the experience of meeting them, for some reason, personally upsetting!

But disregarding these observations, she seems happy in herself and agreed she is a part of local history as is any other tradesperson within Leeds.

The sort of boom you get from the Takumar SMC 135mm V1 (1971) - still lots of chromatic aberration and general distortion. Many of these 'errors' were corrected for the mythical Takumar 135mm V2, which is heavily collected to the point that the V1 sells for as low as 50 euros, as a sort of optical reject. The focus distance is quite close, it's bright, it's as robust as a tank - but is very unreliable for documentary shots. Probably the only lens I use that has a UV filter and used with the big Takumar hood used on the 200mm. One of the best bad lenses out there, and great for 60s feel filming.

The flowers of this tree are fried up every year into a delicious acacia 'beignet' - mmm!

A documentary filmmaker's camera at the inlet of Trout Lake.

Over the dozen years I've been taking students to national parks, we've crossed paths with two documentary projects - one at Ute Mountain Tribal Park, and this one at Trout Lake in Yellowstone.

EXPLORED 16.2.2024.

Our group got combined with a film crew from Western Michigan. Here, guide Ricky Hayes explains how this petroglyph showed solstices and equinoxes.

Though I've done a fair amount of similar filming, this team had a lot more experience than mine. It was interesting to watch and learn.
