From a little while back, I got in the Evening Standards 1000 Most Influential Londoners. Weird, huh...

University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN USA.

Normally Spring is full of multiple activities on any campus. Not this year.

It's official. My name has been changed from Jason Michael Burrows to Jason Megatron Burrows, effective today.

Here's the story of my trip to the courthouse:

The Judge came in about 15 minutes late & apologized, then said that she'd be hearing name changes first, The first lady got up & changed her last name to honor her birth family. Next, a family went up, and the mom & dad both said that their daughter would like her name changed to Jessica, so the judge signed that order.

Then it was my turn... I walked to the front, where she had me raise my right hand to swear that I would tell the truth, whole truth & nothing but the truth. She asked if my name change was to defraud creditors, I said no. She asked if it would be detrimental to anyone else, I said no. She Then asked if I was indeed changing my middle name to that of my childhood hero, I smiled & said "Yes Ma'am." She said, "Then I do order & decree that your name be changed from Jason Michael Burrows to Jason Megatron Burrows" with a HUGE grin. There were quite a few chuckles from the courtroom... I was handed the paperwork & I split. =)

A wayward California Zephyr was plying unfamiliar rails as it passed beneath the iconic Chicago and North Western coal chute at Dekalb.

Union Pacific assigned the pride of the fleet to provide cab signals on the former CNW main line. Amtrak provided their Phase II Son of Baconator Heritage P42 as the trailing motor which made for a fine runby.

Detouring on the UP Geneva Subdivision for a while since severe flooding on its normai route via the BNSF has closed that line, this train has been photographed at every possible location in Chicagoland and beyond by lots of photographers..

The UP line is normally freight-only, so the unusual sight of Amtrak in Dekalb needed to be documented by me and a few others.

I cannot find my digital camera anywhere to save my life. However, I have recently purchased a La Sardina Marathon, so once I get that film developed, I will be back in action.

A photograph of a single page from an old court docket records book circa March, 1858 in Berea, OH. Back when writing was not just a form of communication, but also an art form. The result of the ruling of the courts was a garnishment of wages.... Total court costs were $2.35 which included the $0.50 cost of documenting the case in this docket book.

Some years ago the Folio Society made us an offer we absolutely couldn't refuse. In return for renewing our membership and buying the requisite number of books (4) they gave us this free:

This year we have been watching lots of television Shakespeare because it it 400 years since he died, and I have been meaning to get the huge book out and open it up and browse. Yesterday I began.

I am part of a flickr project/flickr group called "The Co Curators' Resource" (see the group concept here: www.flickr.com/groups/curatorsresource/)

I am in the process of curating Irina Souiki's collection of excellent photos. The way I do things, it helps me to immerse myself in looking at her photos all the through - every photo in her stream, then step back and get some perspective from the images. Today, while snarfing espresso and a bagel at a local coffee house (not Starbucks!) I thought I'd write some of my initial impressions and thoughts in my sketchbook ... and along with that made some sketches, from memory, of some of her photos that had really stuck with me. I was trying to find a common thread or concept that I could focus on for the curating project. It's going to take another visit to her photostream before I can come up with my final long list. Then comes the short list. Then trying to write something meaningful about each photo I choose.

I'm having fun getting to know Irina through her photos, understanding her approach to photography and trying to articulate my responses to her imagery. It's a challenge. I hope through this process, to gain some perspective on my own artwork and photography.

Today was a good day in work, I managed today to sell 4 cars. "Making money"

Carved 4 little erasers last night... I used four 10 cents erasers instead of the expensive carving block.

Also came up with this card design which i promptly 'manufactured' and gave to my close friends today! :)

Business card signed by San Quentin Prison Warden, Clinton T. Duffy, 1943. He was the author of 88 Men and 2 Women, the story of the people who died in the Gas Chamber while he was warden. The person he was allowing to have a visit did win their appeal, and was released.

Very little is known about the organization of the city of Angkor Thom, with its light-weight dwellings. Centered on the Bayon (Central Temple), it was divided into four quarters by four axial roads that were probably bordered by moats. A fifth similar road was set on the axis of the Royal Palace, leading to the east.

Corresponding to these avenues are five monumental gates. From the exterior, the crossing of the moat is made, as previously described, on a causeway. These meditative sculptured faces line the causeway leading up to the gates.
