Going to be having these printed for members of the congregation to use in an upcoming prayer drive. The bookmark will be perforated at the dotted line. Probably sending this to the printer tomorrow, any thoughts?
Josiah Brown of the town and county of Madison, being duly sworn deposith and saith ”That he was a volunteer soldier in the militia of the State of Connecticut and entered the service of the United States in that capacity immediately on the alarm of the Battle of Lexington which was in the year One thousand and seventy-five—that he continued in that serve in the capacity of sargeant until the next year when he was appointed by Governor Trumbull an Ensign in which capacity he continued to serve his country until the winter of seventeen hundred and seventy seven, when he was appointed by the Continental Congress of the United States, a Lieutenant in the half battalion in the Connecticut line, which half battalion was commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Miegs in a Regiment under the command of Colonel Henry Sherburne—that his captain was Elijah Blackman, in which capacity he served in the army of the United States until the spring of the years seventeen hundred and eighty at which time an application to General George Washington, he received by his order an honorable discharge at Morristown in the state of New Jersey.
The deponant further saith that in the year of 1796, while living near where he now resides his dwelling house accidentally caught fire, which together with its contents was consumed, that in it were his commissions, militia and continental, together with his discharge and all his military papers, consisting of journals, copies of orders, notes and memoranda of dates and every paper relating to his service in the Army of the United States, all of which were destroyed so that this deponant is unable from any document in his possession to be precise as to dates. Deponant is however from his recollection confident that he is correct as to years and seasons from his recollection. He is further confident that his continental commission was signed by John Hancock, president of congress.
This deponant further saith that he is now seventy-three years of age, is infirm and unable to support himself—that he has a second wife by whom he has four children, the oldest of whom is but fourteen years of age—that he has no property whatever and that for his own support and that of his family he has no reliance but upon his own labor and the assistance of his children by his first marriage, all of whom are in indigent circumstances and that he needs the sustenance of his country for his support. This deponant further saith that he has never received a pension from the United States nor has he ever until now applied for one and further saith not sworn and subscribed before me on this 9th day of April 1818

This antique hand-painted document box, circa late 18th to early 19th Century, might have been part of a dowry. It ended up back where it came from, at the Allis Bushnell House. It was originally Chloe Scranton’s (Bushnell) box. We have a picture of her at flic.kr/p/SbCgS5.

Blocked with no opportunity for defense or recourse. Facebook's reporting policy sucks & that's why people abuse it daily. Violence is OK but a burlesque performer doing a tribute at an anti-violence public rally is not OK. Fuck that. I'm not staying quiet about your BS protection of cyber bullies. It's wrong & I stand up to that kind of injustice. I'm well known for my bold, hard stances on issues that are important to me.
They blocked me after a prude reported several of my pics as being obscene. It's a huge double standard on that site & there's zero recourse for photogs or other creative artists if anyone finds your work "offensive".
FB allowed a vid of a woman being beheaded, that was up for over a month. They won't remove pages that show animal or child abuse with graphic images. However if an empowered woman does a burlesque tribute performance at a public annual rally on government grounds (BC Legislature Building), photos of that are deemed obscene. I was blocked for that BS. I am not staying quiet either.
Their site allows bullies to sit behind computers & abuse the report feature. If you ask them for help if someone is harassing you or clearly attacking you from multiple accounts - they refuse to help unless you have a court order. Can we say FUCKED UP?
I document real life & if that is offensive, then we are all in a lot of trouble. What happened to me, can happen to anyone who uses that site if you dare to take a stand on your beliefs & values. I am not bowing down to a social media site that gives more power to bullies, than they do to the people being targeted by anon cowards.

This early fourteenth century English manuscript is an example of Henri de Gauchy’s French translation of De regimine principum. Giles of Rome first composed the text in Latin for Philip of the Fair around 1277, and it was soon translated into several vernacular languages. Henri de Gauchy’s was the most prolifically copied of the French translations, and remains extant in thirty-one copies, only six of which are of English origin. The quality of the illumination in Walters 144 suggests that this book was destined for a king or member of the nobility, though it has no evidence of ownership prior to 1463. The text is divided into three books, intended to instruct princes on his ethical, economical and political responsibilities: the conduct of the individual, the rule of the family and household, and the governance of the kingdom. Scenes of princes and scholars conversing, and princes instructing their subjects are among the ten miniatures and historiated initials. The book is a member of the Queen Mary Psalter group (BL Royal 2 B VII).

The BBC was the Borrowing Book Club, a club started by me, the President was me, the rules were made and enforced by me. I was a budding dictator. The club disbanded when my club members informed me that they wanted new elections and someone else to have a turn as President. Well!! I am chagrined whenever I remember that.
Anyway, here was my 5th grade newsletter. And I don't recall either the Pink or the Red jacket.

"For heads that are disposed unto Schism and complexionally propense to innovation, are naturally indisposed for a community, nor will be ever confined unto the order or economy of one body; and therefore, when they separate from others, they knit but loosely among themselves; nor contented with a general break or dichotemy with their Church do subdivide and mince themselves almost into Atoms."

Astronauts from five space agencies around the world take part in ESA’s CAVES training course– Cooperative Adventure for Valuing and Exercising human behaviour and performance Skills.
The three-week course prepares astronauts to work safely and effectively in multicultural teams in an environment where safety is critical.
As they explore caves they encounter caverns, underground lakes and strange microscopic life. They test new technology and conduct science – just as if they were living on the International Space Station.
The six astronauts have to rely on their own skills, teamwork and ground control to achieve their mission goals – the course is designed to foster effective communication, decision-making, problem-solving, leadership and team dynamics.
The six cavenauts of this edition of CAVES are ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst, NASA astronauts Joe Acaba and Jeanette Epps, Roscosmos’ cosmonaut Nikolai Chub, Canadian Space Agency astronaut Josh Kutryk and Japan’s space agency Takuya Onishi.
