Der Wind war ganz schön heftig an dem Tag - das sieht man auf den anderen Fotos gar nicht - aber hier! Abdi fliegt einfach davon!
Barbara lacht sich schlapp: "Hhhhh, ihr somalischen Piraten seid auch so entsetzlich dünn! Kein Wunder! Kapitän Efraim Langstrumpf von der Hoppetosse wär das nicht passiert. Der hatte einen dicken Bauch, der wär nicht so einfach weggepustet worden!"
"Wer ist denn das jetzt schon wieder?", fragt Abdi.
"Ein Pirat, der Vater von Pippi Langstrumpf aus einem Kinderfilm. Der brachte ihr solche Schatzkisten."
"So ein Unsinn! Ein Pirat mit einem dicken Bauch! Wenn einer so viel zu essen hat, dass er einen dicken Bauch kriegt, dann braucht er doch kein Pirat mehr zu sein!", sagt Abdi.
"Ja, aber so ging die Geschichte.", sagt Barbara. "Das kam früher im Fernsehen, und Pippi Langstrumpf kennt echt jeder!"
"Gut, das ist eure Kultur.", sagt Abdi und überlegt, womit er eigentlich groß geworden ist. "Ich bin im Dadaab Flüchtlings-Camp aufgewachsen. Du verstehst sicher, da hatten wir keine Fernseher. Ja, gut, es gab ein Zelt mit TV, aber da wurden Fußballspiele übertragen oder manchmal Nachrichten, wenn in der Welt etwas Wichtiges passierte.
Ich war auch ein großer Fußball-Fan und kannte alle Vereine, Real Madrid, Arsenal oder FC Bayern. Wir Jungs träumten alle davon, mal ein großer Fußball-Star zu werden.
Aber Filme oder gar Kinderfilme - sowas gab es nicht. Das ist auch eure Kultur. Bei uns werden Geschichten erzählt.
Meine Mutter erzählte viele Geschichten, wie es früher in Mogadishu war, aus ihrer Kindheit. Und ich bekam einen Eindruck, wie reich unsere Kultur eigentlich ist, wenn man in einer Familie lebt, in einem Clan. Aber ich hatte ja keine, und Dadaab war ziemlich armselig in der Hinsicht.
Da war, das fällt mir jetzt ein, eine schwedische Ärztin, die sprach ganz gut Somali. Von Ärzte ohne Grenzen war die, sie war oft da. Einmal saßen wir mit ihr unter dem Baum vor dem Hospital, eine ganze Gruppe von Kindern. Sie fragte uns, ob wir eine Geschichte aus Europa hören wollen?
Klar wollten wir das! "Und worüber soll sie gehen?", fragte sie.
"Über Schnee!", riefen wir. Schnee war das größte Geheimnis für uns, spannend und wunderbar.
Sie erzählte von einem Mädchen mit den Streichhölzern. Es war Winter und alles voll Schnee, und das Mädchen war arm und verkaufte Streichhölzer. Die Leute kauften aber nix, sie haben sie gar nicht beachtet, sie waren alle mit Happy New Year beschäftigt..."
"Ich kenne die Geschichte.", sagt Barbara. "Sie ist von Hans Christian Andersen und sehr bekannt."
"Ja, aber wir Kinder waren sehr verärgert über diese Geschichte.", sagt Abdi. "Wir sagten ihr: Die ist nicht aus Europa! Es ist eine afrikanische Geschichte! Du hast den Schnee nur außenrum gemacht! In Europa gibt's keine Kinder, die an Armut sterben! Europa ist reich!"
Jedenfalls fragten wir uns dann: Was wollen die Weißen eigentlich hier in Dadaab? Sie sagen, sie wollen uns helfen. Aber sie teilen nicht mal ihre Geschichten mit uns. Man kann ihnen einfach nicht vertrauen.
Dass wir bei dieser Geschichte falsch lagen, lernte ich in Ankara. Dort fand ich sie wieder, an einem Bücherstand, als Bilderbuch für kleine Kinder. Ich erkannte das Mädchen mit den Streichhölzern sofort.
Heute weiß ich natürlich, die Welt ist nicht schwarz oder weiß. Auch bei den Weißen gibt's solche und solche."
"Und wie findest du Schnee? Jetzt wo du hier lebst?", fragt Barbara.
"Kalt.", sagt Abdi.
