Dollar store birds. I used cardinals and doves.
See my blog for more details and a tutorial on how to glitter these birds in less than a half-hour!
I made this jewellery stand using very thick wire and then wrapped it with yarn. The tiny hangers were made from soft wire and also wrapped with yarn.
What you need:
1/4" foam core
exacto knife, cutting mat and metal straight edge
fabric
scissors
pencil or fabric chalk
sewing machine with zipper/cording foot
fabric glue
needle and thread

I did this shot here to show again how Bill secured the cord to the drywall with clips, and to show the position of the lightbox relative to the ventilation fan/heat lamp.
The flare off the heat lamp bulb was again unintentional, but I think it's a really nice touch.
A gift from my sister Jenn "The Amazon" She couldn't use it and figured it would look nice on our house. I think she's right!
Cimmorene installed the sign
Cimmy wanted a quick photo of me as I was setting up the drill. I exchanged drill and screwdriver bits several times, usually using the old chuck key instead of our fancy ratcheting one.
Cimmy poses with the finished step.
She also asked me (jaklumen) to jump up and down on it a few times to REALLY show how sturdy it was. We don't have film or photo capture of that, however.
(We may oblige you to that end if you request it, however. We're rather plucky that way.)
I decided to use my length of string to create a makeshift measuring tape of sorts that I could use to check my distance from the object I'm photographing. I used a 6 inch metal ruler to measure out the length and then using the black permanent marker I coloured a line for each inch.
I've also noticed that this black and white combo helps keep people from accidentally getting caught on it. As well, you may have noticed that the end of the string is blackened as I burnt the end to keep the string from fraying. For tying the washer to the string any old knot will do.
