This is a view of of my divinity school from behind. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Beeson, this building is the entirety of my seminary. I should note, though, that enrollment is capped at 180 people, and there is more space than is pictured here on both sides.

Figure of Recumbent Jackal
Reportedly Saqqara, Egypt
Third Intermediate Period or Later, circa 664-630 BCE
Wood, Paint
As depictions of dogs and jackals in Egyptian art are similar, it is difficult to identify conclusively the species associated with the canine gods Anubis and Wepwawet. Both gods resemble jackals, but the gods are usually black, a color symbolic of the afterlife and rebirth, whereas ancient Egyptian jackals have golden coats. The shape of this figure’s head and the remains of a red scarf around its neck are typical of recumbent images of Anubis.
