I couldn't wait for the large ball in the center to appear at the end of the scene, so I layered it using comparative light compositing.

The front is Kanaya-cho town and the back is Shimada city.
This festival is held at the same time.
こちらはちょっと前の大井川の花火。
手前、金谷側と向こう島田側で同時開催なので、
スマーマインも華やかです。

Per Cornell's Birds of the World: "Injury-Feigning Display [often with wings spread more as well] -- to lead predators away from a nest." While we WERE on the roadway, I assume there was a nest nearby.
I invited my neighbor’s hummingbirds to come to take a shot of sweet nectar. They started coming to enjoy it. I set up my camera at 1/2500 to capture their visits. All these photographs were made at different days and at different hours. This one I used the sky as background

A few more shots from the Bolddogs Display Team at the West Show on Guernsey, last week. It was very spectacular but it does make me wonder what makes someone want to do this sort of thing and how they learn to do it!

Fireworks display every weekend at the Mall of Asia Pasay City, Philippines.

What a huge and pleasant surprise - I went outside to get something from the garden this evening, and to my left this amazing display of noctilucent clouds was occurring! Forget the chores, get me a camera!!! I have waited ages to see this wonderful spectacle, since learning about them. Admittedly, not the most scenic of locations - looking to the north over a field close to my home - but there was no time to find anywhere else before they would disappear.....so electricity cables it was!! Anyway, I hope to be able to capture such a display again sometime, and hopefully when in a mountain range........ Anyway Fujifilm X-T30, Fujinon XF18-55mm f2.8-4.0 R LM OIS - ISO800/f4/25 secs
Four weeks from now I'll be showing some of my movie vehicles at Dutch Comic Con in Utrecht. For this occasion, I decided to make a display base for my Tomcat, with a brick-built Top Gun logo. I think this looks nicer than simply placing the model on black tablecloth.
I also fitted the Tomcat with a boarding ladder and steps for the crew. These don't retract, but can easily be added or removed by swapping a few parts. The model has had this feature from the start, but I never showed it in pictures.
