Le Groenland ou Kalaallit Nunnat, province autonome du Royaume du Danemark, est au cœur de nombreux enjeux géopolitiques. Après avoir obtenu une autonomie interne en 1979, le pays n’a eu de cesse de la faire accroitre jusqu’à l’obtention, en 2008, d’un régime d’autonomie élargie. Le Groenland présente un fort potentiel minier et pétrolier, ses eaux côtières recèleraient des réserves de pétrole équivalentes à près de 10% des réserves mondiales connues. Le réchauffement climatique va faciliter l'accès à ces ressources. L'exploitation des richesses du sous-sol est une perspective à double tranchant : elle ouvre la possibilité de s'affranchir de la tutelle danoise, mais, ce faisant, menace l'environnement et les traditions.
