Anyway, all these pictures include shadows and repeated pattern. Therefore, photos were made with two different sizes of forks, smaller one and larger one. Started with 5 of larger onces and then reduced to 4, 3, 2 and one, and repeat with the smaller once. And partly, just for fun a caliper was include to measure the size of the shadows. Some wavy-edged funky plates I've had forever that my husband told me not to buy because I'd never use them. He was wrong. 😄 Macro Mondays Theme: Edge

In this photo, there is somehow space between the caliper and the shadows. Caliper is set to 60 mm, with 8 tines within the caliper, 2 2/3 of 3 forks and another tine of a forth fork to the right. On top some reflection and light pattern, where the sun is reflecting at the tips of the tines into the macro objective producing some lense flare.

Salmon trout, this was one of the ideas for Macro Monday, theme Single use. Single use, because after eating once it’s gone. However, for Macro Mondays I would need to cut it down, or just show a small piece to meet the size restriction. And my I add; the fish was as usual delicious.
The Salmon trout was served on table ware from Villeroy & Boch, series Manufacture Rock, the fish bones, too.
Oher then this, strobist information, mix of day light and flash, single mono light from above, tilted approx. 30 ° with one huge Elinchrom Litemotiv Para Soft box 120cm (47.3"). Have a look at the soft shadows.

Kitchen spoon, on a metal plate used for grilling. To get some more distance and more dots, elevated on top of two forks. If you look carefully there is reflection of the photographer, myself.
And the two forks, out of focus due to depth of field, the reflection line on the left side of the spoon.
For the photo the spoon was slightly turned out of the light, to get more bright and more dark areas.
Taken late afternoon, no direct sunlight any more.
As for size, the spoon on it widest is approx. 50 mm, shown less than 50 mm

"Jadeite, Jadite, or Jade-ite? No matter how you spell it, jadeite is that gorgeous green milk glass found in old homes, estate sales, flea markets and antique malls all over the U.S. and Canada. First created in the 1930s, jadeite is used for all types of things, but most commonly dishware and kitchenware. It first became popular in the Victorian era, then fell out of style for a time until World War II when glass companies found it could be stylish, plus affordable, to make. Now it’s trendy again."
This quote is from, and more info is at

This "jadite" is 1/6th scale, made of plastic. The hutch is a repainted Gloria piece, also plastic.
Heading back to Williams from Grand Canyon Village, GCRY 2-8-0 29 hustles its train through Quivero, AZ on June 1, 2019. A local railfan pointed out to me that the right-of-way through here is covered with thousands of shards of broken china and bottles. Apparently, for whatever the reason, this was the location where dining car crews disposed of their broken and blemished dishware back when Santa Fe passenger trains still plied this route.

Another white-on-white still life. This time, it's dishware.
Shot with Rolleiflex 3.5T medium format TLR on Ilford Delta 400 film. Developed in Sprint chemistry. Negative scanned on Epson V600 scanner. Post-processing in Photoshop. Cropped 4x5.
first morning tea in my own dishwares — former students and colleagues might recognize this one, despite its new setting…
I've moved to Instagram @cathygio1
This was scanned many years ago from a vintage magazine. Wouldn't it be fun to set a picnic table at a barbecue with all the onion dishware?
Happy Macro Monday!
I wasn't sure what I was going to do for the Glaze theme. My wife helped me out by suggesting this handmade garlic grater plate from Spain.
The yellow background is a t-shirt. The light is natural light from about 10 am coming in through my living room windows. It was a little cloudy and I played with the blinds until I got it just how I wanted it. I filled in the light with a gold reflector.
Dear all, If you like the pic you can fave it and/or leave a comment. But please don't flood it with group awards. These will be deleted. Thanks
Obviously used, still wet from the shoot before, one light from the right, white reflector handheld from the left, the only small dark line left from the reflection above on granite kitchen countertop.
