Except when the train is in town. Disco is a tiny little town about halfway between Lomax and La Harpe on the former TP&W line that connected with the Santa Fe transcon at Lomax to continue into Ft Madison.
You could usually count on a midmorning departure out of Ft Madison and that was the case on Feb 13, 1983 as GP38-2 2001 leads a short train towards Peoria. Note the pigs in the consist, probably headed for Hoosierlift, the ill-fated intermodal facility in the middle of the cornfields at Remington, IN.

Sometimes I like to use some different crop on my photos, that I don’t use usually. I thought that it would be nice to do this more panorama crop here to concentrate the viewer's attention on this part of the trees. The main reason in support of this decision was the harsh sunlight above the frame, that was not looking that nice.
I love going out with just a will to get some photos and then explore my opportunities and look around when I’m in a location. I by chance noticed how light interacts with these groups of trees and I liked it a lot. I see some photographers using many apps these days to navigate the position of a sun and to prepare themselves for specific shots, but I’m more spontaneous considering seeing photography as a passion and hobby.
Looking at the scene, when I was in the process of getting this shot, I decided to zoom the frame a little so I could emphasize primarily how sunbeams affect the scene. The sunlight was intense so it helped with isolating and separating the trees from the cluttered background. And this sort of yellowish tone makes you have that warm feeling when looking at the image, even though I don’t think it was that warm or hot outside. In the end, this was shot at the beginning of January.
As someone who has a wild imagination I imagine, looking at the shot, seeing a group of dancing people on the dance floor with some funk music in the background and all the laser lights on them. And there is some yellow confetti dropping from the roof of the discotheque. Everyone is relaxed having fun and enjoying themselves in the wave of music and lights around.

Arachtober 26th. It takes skill, experience, special camera settings, and wobbly knees to take a photo of this rare and visually spectacular species.
It's not that Disco J is bothered, upset, frustrated or otherwise concerned about the expanding amount of young people (typically girls) who create photos such as this, usually in their own house, bland background and then texture in various things to "express themselves" or create artwork. What Disco J is upset at is that there is so much to do and see outside that if you spend your whole life being emo and sad and worried about what people think of you and recluse yourselves indoors and on the internet that you won't really see just how beautiful the world really is and I really hate run-on sentences.
So unplug, cheer up and go outside.
With love,
Disco J

No problem... hopped onto my Kitely account. Couldn't fall asleep IRL so I decided to shop in world at SV3d. Stumbled on to this vacant disco after the shopping spree... well, it's not really vacant.
There is a pole dancer inside... asked her to serve me a drink and she obliged. She cranked some Pantera on the PA... Black Tooth Grins for both of us... ;) Whoo!
