St Peter’s, Stourton
The main part of St. Peter’s – the nave, chancel and the tower date from 1291. The oldest monument dates from second half of the 14th century and is most likely that of Maud Badlesmere, wife of the then owner of Stourhead.
The North Aisle was built by the 5th Lord Stourton in the early 15th century and the Baptistry was originally their chantry chapel: his tombstone lies alongside those of many of his family, and it is thought that their family vault lies under the church. Edward, the 6th Lord Stourton and his wife are probably buried there and their ornate tomb chest is by the entrance to the Chancel. They died in 1535, just as Henry VIII severed ties with the Catholic Church, which led to the demise of the Stourton family, who remained staunchly Catholic, and subsequently lost the Estate. The monument shows two lying figures, he armoured and she simply dressed, with 3 small-scale children at their heads, and their coat of arms, which includes the 6 wells of Stourhead to the east. The figures and tomb bear signs of desacratory damage.
In 1717, the Hoare banking family bought the Estate, which had fallen into disarray. The then Henry Hoare (the ‘Good’) put in hand significant improvements to the Church, and the family have continued as major benefactors. The South Aisle was built in 1848 to provide more seating – the population of the village in 1861 was 650 (today it is only 120) – and the three very fine Hoare Memorials were later moved there from the south wall of the Chancel.

I have photographed this church in the past, but when I happened by it this time, it was showing it's age. With paint peeling and roof collapsing, the area had been fenced off.
This made it necessary to stand on the side street with my tripod.
The old Church was leaning to the side and it appeared only faith was now holding it up. Even the "No Trespassing" sign had fallen into disarray. However, if you look closely into the windows, you can still see remnants of ornate stained glass.
Outside the DOM in Cologne, the day was restless — a rhythm of light and sound and movement. She stood at its center, not posing, not hiding, simply existing as the wind wrote across her face. For a breath, the city faded — footsteps softened, voices dimmed — and the air carried a story that felt older than words.
There was grace in the disarray: hair tangled with the current, eyes half-closed as if listening to something distant. I thought of how easily we forget what once knew us — the places, the prayers, the quiet hopes we left behind. Yet here, the wind seemed to remember, tracing the contours of presence and letting them go again.

Was really excited to create this image for our Photo Advent Calendar.
This is a Nutcracker whom I've had since I was about six years old. My grandmother and father took me into the city into one of the big department stores and when I saw him they let me take him home. He was sitting at the foot of a giant escalator on a table with all the other Nutcracker toys and he had the shiniest red coat and the softest white beard. And ever year, though his coat is a little ragged now, and his beard more often than not falls into disarray, twenty years later, I still pull him out every year and straighten out his beard and place him near our Christmas tree. <3

This particular male always has feathers in disarray a bit of a Boris Johnson of the bird world.
Of course he's a bit of a favourite being so easily recognisable.
This immature Bald Eagle is perched next to the waters of the estuary as the strong winds keep blowing its feathers every which way. It was amusing to watch this eagle as it reacted to the wind.

In the heartless abyss, a glimmer, rare.
For even in darkness, a spark remains,
A hope, a chance to break the chains,
To mend the heart that once knew bliss,
And resurrect a love, reborn in the abyss.

Cattails sway about madly as extreme winds blow in behind a late autumn cold front. I love experiencing rapid weather changes brought on by storms. There's a feeling of disarray, both in the landscape and sky, as air masses collide. Vast amounts of energy are released in the process, an abundant source of creative motivation just waiting to be tapped.
Out in this open meadow, the gusty wind was whipping everything around me into a continuous blur. Very difficult to focus the eye on any one thing when everything is in motion. Photography truly becomes more of a shoot by feel process rather than one of looking through viewfinder. As is often the case, I'm responding more to how the scene makes me feel rather than how it actually looks.
The cattails delineate an impassable boundary for me. Stems from an irrational fear of snakes. Even as a child, I equated cattails with marshes and wetlands and a high probability of harboring snakes. Even with snakes in hibernation in this freezing cold air, the tangle of overgrowth and the certainty of sinking into mud in the still soft earth was more than enough to deter me. Still I lingered on the verge; the scene almost comically bleak, the sky a dark shade or murder gray.

Amongst all the disarray and chaos in Dinorwic Quarry you still see lovely little trees here and there.
When we first moved into our 17th century cottage the garden was in a state of some disarray. This beautiful climbing rose (which we call our "raspberry ripple") was semi-buried under some rubbish, and was no more than a couple of small sticks, one of which was decidedly dead. However, Judy likes to nurture sick plants and shrubs and bring them back to life if at all possible. After several years being lovingly tended in a sheltered but sunny position outside our stone barn the rose is now growing strongly and this is its first bud to flower this year. There are a number of other buds looking as though they will join it in the next week or two. It was quite windy when I took this, and earlier versions were a little less sharp due to the motion. So I wound up the ISO and the shutter speed to freeze the movement.

It was as if Richard wasn't playing alone: each basket seemed like a message, each rebound, an invitation not to leave yet.
From the doorway, Guilles looked at him for a long moment. And although he didn't say anything, he knew the afternoon wouldn't end there."

With all the choices we have to be able to decorate the interior of our homes, I am often picky when it comes to hunting for just the right furniture or look.
I have never been one for the modern when it comes to decorating my homes. I prefer the warmth of a slightly more rustic feel. Doubt that will ever really change.
