Slightly altered to simulate a vacuum... October colors disappearing into the monochrome November.

The butterfly must have been in nirvana to have so many verbena blooms to take nectar from. It was flitting from flower to flower like a maniac that day. For Sliders Sunday, I used an impressionism filter in Topaz Studio 2 and slightly saturated the colours. I hope you enjoy! HSS!

Tonight will be the last full moon of the decade. I don't know how clear it will be here in Alaska - but I look forward to images from other parts of the world.

Last night clouds swirled over the face of the moon, making it impossible to get a nice clear shot. Just after dinner I looked out and decided to capture a few images looking down one of our trails. Since it is a rather hum-drum picture, I decided to take it into Topaz Studio and play with sliders. Now I will wait and see what tonight will bring.

It's currently -26C/-15F, so I can't help but dream of warmer days. I took the garden scene to Topaz Studio 2 where I added an effect and saturated the colours for Sliders Sunday. HSS!

The original photograph taken in the Water Lily House at the Botanical Gardens in Oxford. I was drawn to the light play and the reflections on the water.

Sun is warm - ice is melting - and migratory birds are playing. It must be springtime in Alaska.

The backstory is that I met the homeowner who grew flowers in abundance. Her ten-year-old granddaughter came up with the idea of selling the flowers and giving the money to a local food bank. That sure touched my heart and I thanked them for their kindness and hard work (plus contributed to the cause). Kudos to Nana and her granddaughter! HSS!

Edited with an effect in Topaz Studio 2.

Not a window was broken

And the paint wasn’t peeling

Not a porch step sagged -

Yet, there was a feeling

That beyond the door

And into the hall

This was the house of

No one at all.

No one who breathed

Nor laughed, nor ate

Nor said “I love,”

Nor said “I hate.”

Yet something walked

Along the stair

Something that was

And wasn’t there.

And that is why weeds

On the path grow high,

And even the moon

Races fearfully by –

For something walks

Along the stair -

Something that is

And isn't there.
