I'm not too sure of the species or even group of this little wasp with the designer shades, resting on a Knapweed flower. I was planning on getting more whole body shots for ID, but it flew off.
I had a vague idea for the digger (and the cat) but instead stumbled across this bigger digger on the cemetery.
Toy Project Day 2416
Our cat Digger is super friendly and firmly believes we are all here to pet her. She becomes a bit of a pest at photo sessions and demands to be petted. Veronica loves cats too so we put up with this a bit.
JCB gifted me a model of this as a thank you for some photos I sent them.

Digger, my three year old Cairn Terrier, carrying a stick on our morning walk. He loves sticks, I call them his cigar's.
a great gloden digger on a flower in my yard.. Awesome looking wasp.. really big and scarey but not too aggresive at all.
This is my favourite fence post (so far!) at St Cyrus nature reserve. I stop by to see who is in residence nearly every day! This is a better shot of possibly the same digger wasp that I said hi to several times :D... On other days, I also found a leafcutter bee, a ladybird and an earwig :D
Drax power station coal digger transfers the coal to the conveyor belt, and on into the boilers.
Only used in emergencies now, Drax uses wood pellets.
A Golden Digger wasp browsing on a pink-flowered buckwheat. View large to see the golden hairs on the head and thorax. These wasps tend to ignore people (in my experience) and they often twitch while walking across flower clusters. They are easy to spot from a distance and we can get close for photos for the short time that they browse.
My Cairn Terrier, Digger, relaxing on the carpet while I play with my camera, a not uncommon scene in my living room.
A female Field Digger Wasp (Mellinus arvensis) looking out of her nest burrow in our Staffordshire garden this morning. I hope to get some shots of her taking paralysed flies into the burrow, to provision her brood cells!

Sandknotenwespe auf Kanadischer Goldrute
A close up, taken with my old Canon G12 power shot, and the gold/yellow/orange color, selected out. Taken in a woman's front yard in Kerang.
She was very nice.
She let me take pictures, of her flowers in her beautiful garden.
