The lymphatic system is part of the immune system where cleansing of blood, and the detoxification of our bodies takes place. A huge network of lymphatic vessels recycles blood plasma by removing fluid from the tissues, filtering it, and carrying it back into the bloodstream.

These are 10 foods to add into your diet to boost the lymphatic system:

* Water

May not be a food item, but essential to life. Drink plenty of clean, purified water. Water keeps the lymph fluid hydrated and flowing smoothly.

* Cranberry

Cranberry is an amazing emulsifier of fat which means it helps break down excess fat for the lymphatic vessels to carry away.

* Leafy greens

That green nutrient has powerful cleansing properties and beneficial effects on the blood and thus on lymph fluid as well.

* Nuts and seeds

The essential healthy fats found in seeds like chia, nuts, olive oil, coconut oil, and avocado, play a role in fighting inflammation. They also strengthen our inner organs walls.

* Adaptogenic herbs

Goldenseal, Echinacea, and Astragalus are three herbsthat help alleviate inflammation and congestion of the lymph nodes and vessels.

* Garlic

Garlic boosts immune function and combats harmful microbes. It improves circulation and aids in the cleansing of toxins. It boosts the function of your lymphatic system and contains antibacterial qualities.

* Ginger / Turmeric

Both have beneficial effects on digestion and circulation; two systems that are tied directly to the processes of the lymphatic system. Also they help reduce inflammation, thin blood and improve circulation.

* Seaweed

Sea vegetables help the body detox and eliminate excess fluid that can build up in tissues and slow the lymphatic system down.

* Citrus

Citrus fruits aid hydration, carry powerful antioxidants and enzymes, and help cleanse and protect the lymphatic system.

I followed the vet's recommendation and here is Jet eating a lot of prescription Hill's easy digestion wet food, with me sitting nearby and Agate eating in the other room. She did eat a lot of it but it didn't clearly agree with her 100%.

I have since learned that her previous foster home at Meow Village only fed them dry Meow Mix (exact flavor not known, it would get shaken up a bit.) The Meow Village person who sent that info from the foster suggested that she would give kittens who are "losing weight or struggling with eating" nutritional gel, such as tomlyn high calorie nutritional gel Malt flavor with Omega 3, 6 and 9.

I got some "Meow Mix Original Choice" and put it on top of their prescription dry food and they rushed over almost as if it were as good as wet food. Who knew. Let's see if that gets her to gain weight. I had her weighed today (6 days after her previous weigh-in) and she weighed the same - but the shiny coat and good spirits were noted, I have also got the Tomlyn nutritional gel. Something will work.

Depurativo - Disintossicante

Small molecules called proteins are involved in every aspect of our lives, from digestion to helping our hearts and brains function efficiently. Life as we know it on earth could not exist without proteins, however either increase or decrease in proteins work efficiency can cause serious health problems. Some of these health problems include paralysis, Alzheimer’s disease, heart failure, and cancer. Scientists improve the understanding of protein’s ability to carry out its tasks by being able to visualise them. Due to the extremely small size of protein, microscopes are not sufficient to view them, instead specialist visualisation techniques/equipment have been developed. Good knowledge of protein structure allows for design of either more efficient proteins or even smaller molecules which can inhibit protein function.
